Nico rolled over in his black cushioned bed. His head ached from a night of restless sleeping. Hair stuck out in every direction. Looking down the side of his skeleton covered blanket he found a little yellow box with a picture of a sunset. He sat up in bed and picked up the box. Next to it was a black sealed envelope. Inside the note read:
Dear Nico,
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
The lake's where I'll be,
Tonight under the moon.
Love, Will
Nico smiled at the note his boyfriend left. They had been dating for one full year now and he was madly in love. Will was the son of Apollo, who was the god of poetry and the sun. being the son of Hades he was to dark to Will's light. Inside the box was a skull ring with yellow diamonds in its eyes. He jumped out of bed and got ready for a day just for him and Will.
Will met him at the lake with a picnic. Wills hair looked as if the sun had rained golden drops. And his smile always made Nico feel warm and happy sat down by the lake and stared into the crystal waters. It was a beautiful day, with the sun shining bright, like always. Campers fought in the arena nearby, while satyr chased around nymphs. Pegasuses flew overhead with unsteady new riders. Will leaned over and planted a kiss on Nico's cheek. He blushed.
"How's my sunshine doing?" he cooed.
"Amazing as long as I'm with you." They spent the morning stretch out side by side on the blanket watching clouds drift by. Will sat up and Nico rested his head on his lap. Nico slowly fell asleep in his boyfriends arms.
Dreams are never a good thing. They seemed to ruin Nico's good day. In his dream was a girl with bright blond hair braided to the side. From the back the only other thing he could see was that she was wearing a flowing Greek style dress and a glittering black headband. She knelt in front of a dark throne. The room was dim and lifeless. It looked like his father's realm although she had never seen the girl before. When she spoke her words sounded as smooth as honey.
"Master I promise I will not fail you."
"You better not, or you will… I feel someone here. Child I will make you a honer to the family."
"Nico! Nico!" He woke up to Will violently shaking him. "Babe, it's dinner time, and guess what I got!"
"McDonalds!" Nico jumped to his feet and tackled him.
"Whats all the hype about McD? Burger King is way better." Said a girl in a black tube top and dark jean shorts. Her bright blond hair cascaded down her face. Nico felt as though he had seen her before. "I'm new here. Name's Zoey, daughter of Hades. Nice to meet you."
