Okay, so this is a fic I wrote a while ago, before Blood of Olympus came out the world went insane with Will X Nico. Some part of me still thinks this would be adorable, even though Leo has Calypso and Nico is implied to like Will. I also added an OC-Nerida. She's a surly daughter of Poseidon but she's barely mentioned I promise. It's short, but sweet. I got good reviews on it on DeviantART. Enjoy!
It was a warm summer, the sky bleed blue, and the color seemed to rain down to the ocean and the ocean rose up to the sky until they were indistinguishable from each other. The clouds were fluffy and pure white, floating lazily across the sky. He'd come to a spot of peace, deep within the woods that took up half the valley that was Camp Half-Blood. The wind was calm, sending small, cooling breezes that sent the smell of the ocean and the smell of the trees mixing into peace. He rubbed his chest, where a dull ache resided. It had been two weeks. Two weeks since he'd gotten back from Greece and Rome, and had found the Son of Hades gone.
He'd done his job; he'd brought the statue, the long lost statue of Athena back and had stopped the war before it had begun. No demi-god blood had been spilt, neither Greek nor Roman. Octavian was stull fuming, and had lost some of his mind. Every few days he'd call a meeting, rave and rant about some new piece of evidence that showed the Greeks wanted to Romans dead. But Leo didn't care, the Son of Hades had left without saying goodbye. He'd shadow travelled away the second it had become clear that no war was going to break out.
Percy had told Leo that Nico was probably sleeping off the effects of shadow travelling half way across the globe. But Leo could tell the Son of Poseidon was worried. As for the daughter, Nerida, well, she was as distant as ever. But she's told Leo that if Nico wanted to talk to him, he would. She wasn't the kindest girl he'd ever met, nothing like Beauty Queen or Hazel, or even Annabeth-And that girl scared him-but she knew what to say sometimes. So Leo had resigned himself to waiting.
Unable to sit still-he was seriously ADHD-Leo began to pull random things from his belt, absentmindedly putting them together and spreading grease on his fingers. His mind worked overtime. Why had Nico left? Had Leo gone to far?
Before the son of Hades had left, Leo had pulled him aside, and told him what he'd been holding inside since he'd met the kid.
"Nico, I really," He'd blushed like an idiot here, not better at talking to boys he liked than girls. The truth was Leo was bi, but he'd never told anyone. As he'd grown up, moving from foster home to foster home, he learned he needed to blend. Being bi was not blending. So he hid that part of himself. Until Nico. "Like you. B-be safe okay? Come back. I-we-I have a lot to tell you." Then he'd walked away before Nico could utter a word, mortification staining his cheeks red and heating his back.
He'd completed his mission-man, he'd come close to death. He didn't want to think of that now though. Not when he wanted his mind on Nico. Nico, who had said he wasn't coming back. Nico, the sad-eyed, son of Hades with a temper so black the dead and the shadows cowered before it.
Nico, his pale face lit with a smile as he'd laughed without thinking to one of Leo's jokes.
Nico, who'd had a crush on Percy that was so obvious to Leo it burned his heart with a flame hotter than he could ever produce.
Nico, who knew such tragedy and heartbreak and yet still tried to do what was right.
Nico who-"Leo." A voice said softly from the shadows. Leo jumping, scattering tools across the ground as he spun to face who addressed him. His mouth went slack. There, standing in the shadows, wearing his favorite aviator jacket, black jeans, a shirt that said "Got zombies?" was a nervous looking Nico. He played with the skull ring that was forever on his finger, his black sword was slung across his back. Nico looked better now. His face had filled out a bit, he'd gained back some of the weight he'd lost while in Tartarus and while captive. His eyes weren't so haunted, weren't as mad looking. In fact, the son of Hades looked downright scared.
"Nico." Leo breathed, for once in his life as still as the trees in a silent wind. His heart thudded, and some of the pain that had lived there for weeks lifted. To Leo, Nico looked amazing. His black hair was still unruly-and to Leo's mind, sexy-his skin was pale, but had regained some color. He no longer looked like the ghosts he spent so much of his time with.
"Sorry," Nico mumbled, shuffling his feet. "I was gone a while. I-I had to think."
"About?" Leo prompted not daring to hope.
"Us." Nico said slowly, as it speaking a new term. "I've been thinking about what you said. That you liked me."
"I-" Leo blushed, he could feel his hair start to catch fire but willed it away. How embarrassing would that be? "I do like you Nico. M-more than a friend."
"I had a crush on Percy." Nico said and Leo's heart flared with pain. He was about to crack a joke when Nico continued. "But I've realized it was a combination of hero worship, as well as a crush. I'm gay." He said is slightly defensively. "But Percy isn't. I can't blame him for something he never knew about. He's been good to me. A good friend. I know now we can be nothing more. But." He paused, looking at Leo, who couldn't seem to move, it was too much to hope. "But, I think, maybe, we can be."
"Nico." Leo said searching for words in his blank head. "I hope we can be more too." Nico smiled and his dark eyes lit with light. Leo's heart tripped in his chest, Nico's smile lightening the world just as his scowl darkened it. He walked to the son of Hades like an old man. One foot in front of the other. He was slightly taller than Nico and that gave him a secret thrill. He knew what to do. Knew just as he knew how to fix machines. He pushed Nico into a tree, just a little roughly.
Nico's heart thudded, went into over drive. He knew he blushed. Leo saw the blush and smiled with triumph. He placed his hand on Nico's cool cheek, touched his forehead to Nico's and smiled as Nico's eyes went wide with shock.
Moving slowly, he touched his lip's to Nico's tasting what he thought to be pomegranates in that brief meeting of their mouths. He pulled back and was thrilled when he saw Nico's arms were limp. He smiled wickedly. He plunged; Nico gasped in shock and tried to keep up. Leo's mouth was a fever, fast hot and strong. Nico's mouth was cool, but heating fast, he teased and bit, while Leo plundered and explored. Letting out a laugh, Leo pulled Nico's sword off his back and threw it down. Nico was pressed fully to the great tree now, and loved it. His entire body was limp, the only thing keeping him up with Leo's body against his. They kissed for a while longer, then pulled back from each other, both breathing hard and satisfied.
"I think," Leo said playing with Nico's hair. "This could work."
"Gee," Nico said sarcasm dripping from his slightly swollen lips. "You think?"
Hey guys! I have more Valdangelo fics that I haven't put up on here yet. They are on DeviantART though-the Link is on my profile-so if you like this go check 'em out! If you guys want me to post more of these, let me know. I've got a bunch. I know this pairing is old news and Solangelo is the new thing, but I haven't written a Solangelo fic. Sorry. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. But for now this is what I've got.
