Eddie is seen hanging out in a bar. After solving the case on who framed Roger Rabbit as well as dispensing justice on Judge Doom, the Toon who murdered his brother Teddy, he figured he deserved a break.
Tonight, he's meeting up with a man who is not only older than him, but also having the same characteristics as his.
"So how was your day?" he asked him.
"Pretty good, I guess," was the response. "How about you?"
"Good as well."
They paused for a while as they took a sip of their alcoholic beverage before continuing on their conversation.
"My name is Eddie. Eddie Valiant," Eddie broke the silence first.
"I'm Hank. Hank Anderson," Hank introduced himself next.
"So I heard you were partnered with an android, something you hated because you saw them responsible for the death of your son."
"Says the guy who was partnered with a Toon, something he hated because he saw them responsible for the death of his brother."
"Fair enough," Eddie accepted the comment with dignity.
"Unlike you, I never blamed androids for Cole's death," Hank added.
"At least I learned to let go of my hate for Toons after my investigation. Hey, I even kissed Roger in the lips when he asked me if I'm starting to lose my sense of humor after everything is said and done. The answer is no. I haven't lost my sense of humor, and I intend to keep it that way."
"Whoop-de-fucking-do..."
"And I recommend you try washing your mouth some time. It's very disgusting when you swear."
"I'll keep that in mind. By the way, did you watched the news about the android revolution? Connor's a part of it, especially when he became a deviant."
"I see..."
Just then, a horn is being honked from outside.
"Well, I better get going, Eddie. Connor is waiting for me outside. See you next time for some drinking," Hank is about to take his leave.
"You too, Hank. You, too," Eddie shook hands him with him as they parted ways.
After finishing his drink, he left outside the bar to see Hank getting in the car with Connor driving it away from the bar. With a smile on his face, he turned to Roger, who has saw the whole scene, as they're ready to solve another case.
Author's Note: I know it's short, but still a good story to see.
What do you think?
Eddie and Hank are similar; a grumpy alcoholic cop/ex-cop who hates a certain species because of seeing them responsible for the death of a close relative, but then has to form an unwanted partnership with one from the very species he hates to solve a crime, with his partner being way more enthusiastic about the investigation than he is, and eventually learned to open up to the certain species.
The only difference is that Hank never blamed androids for the death of his son, but on the human surgeon who won't operate on him. Even so, the original impression he gives still leads way for this comparison.
