The other day at school, 96jp007 gave me the words "boat" and "ring" to include in a story and the first thing that came to mind was Silent Hill: Homecoming and so this story was born. Also, it's changed a bit from when you read it jp but it's pretty much the same, just with a few added parts :)
He couldn't believe it. He sat on his bed in shock. His soaked clothes were dripping onto the bed but he could care less.
He'd done something bad. No, not something bad. Something terrible. He hadn't meant to but the boat was so unstable. He had been so jealous, so angry, that he'd pulled too hard. He placed his head in his hands and fell back onto the rapidly soaking mattress. He could still hear the crack in the back of his mind, he could see it so clearly . . .
They'd gone out in the boat. Onto the lake their father had forbidden the from. His brother hadn't wanted to go, said it was a bad idea but they'd gone anyway. An argument broke out between the two of them shortly after. His brother pulled out a chain from under his shirt and showed him what was on it.
He had snapped. His brother, his little brother had gotten the ring with the family crest on it. It was rightfully his! Not his little brother's! In a fit of rage, he sprang forwards and tried to wrestle the ring off of him. His brother wouldn't let him. He'd pulled the chain too hard and it snapped. He watched as his little brother fell back. Watched as his head made contact with the side of the boat, a sickening crack filled the air. It was only after his brother disappeared into the water beneath that he finally acted. He shouted his brothers name and dived in after him.
"I'm sorry Josh" he croaked "I'm so, so sorry." He let out a strangled sob and wept for his brother.
He'd tried desperately to save his little brother.
He'd tried so hard.
But he failed.
His little brother was dead.
Because of him.
And thus concludes my first one-shot. I hope you enjoyed it. It took me longer than expected 'cause halfway through writing this I thought I'd made a huge mistake and had to check to see if I was right.
I'm not sure if I'll write anything else for the Silent Hill games but if inspiration strikes, I shall write.
Final note: Reviews make me giddier than a chipmunk on drugs!
