He dangled off the ledge by his fingertips - the drop was much further down than he had initially thought.
"What's wrong Octy?" Jed called from the ground, hands cupped around his mouth only emphasising the distance.
"Uh, I am just doing some calculations." Or procrastinating. "It seems too far down. I do not know if I will safely make the drop."
"Don't be stupid! I made the drop perfectly fine!" Jedediah opened his arms to show that he was unhurt. "Are you afraid of heights?"
Octavius sighed. "I've never been before. I do not know what has come over me."
The blond moved closer to the end of the rope, and grasped it in his hands. "I got the rope, Oct, and I'm here to catch you. Come on, partner, you can do it!"
Octavius did, and even let out a 'whoop' on the way down.
"Now, was that so scary?" the cowboy asked, arms still holding onto the Roman, even though his feet were safely on the ground.
"No, it was rather fun, actually." Octavius smiled. "Let's go find some other places to abseil down from!"
The Roman took off running, and Jedediah had to call out to the older man to wait for him, shaking his head fondly as he neared.
"Now I can see why you find me running off so annoying."
"Yes, but I also find it endearing."
Jed's lip quirked at one side. "I can see why about that too."
The westerner took one of the dark haired man's hands.
"But, next time, hold my hand, so we can run off together."
"I can do you one better."
"Really?"
Arms looped around the blond's neck, and lips planted on his own.
As Octavius pulled away, Jedediah murmured "Oh, I see."
The Roman looked rather cocky at the blank look on the younger man's face.
Jedediah quickly shook himself out of it.
"Well, two can play at that game!" and they were kissing once more.
