"Alright, be on the look out. We've got some alien activity coming from this area. Don't shoot unless you absolutely need to. Do I make myself clear?," Jack flashed a look to Rex.
Rex rolled his eyes and gave an annoyed sigh, "You are never going to let me live that down are you?"
Jack had a wide smile on his face, "Well we don't want to shoot our friends again." Jack and Rex had tracked a alien signal to an abandoned warehouse. Jack was really excited about this because there hadn't been any activity since the last time they got alien activity and Rex shot him in the ribs.
They both had come up to the side of the building and Jack motioned for Rex to go around to the other side, "I want you to go around to the other side and call in if you find anything, and remember no shooting." Rex huffed at him and went around back. When he was out of sight, Jack went up to the closest door and pushed it open. It was dark and dank in this run down place. There was a thick layer of dust settled on the floor. Jack took a breath as to hold back a sneeze. He traveled through the building looking down halls and into dark rooms. He linked into the intercom, "Have you found anything?"
"Nah man I haven't found anything. Jack are you sure there's something here?," Rex said with his regular annoyed tone. Even when that guy was happy, he still had an unhappy look on his face.
"Just keep looking ok," Jack got off the intercom and continued to look around. He had walked into a large room that looked like an assembly room. The only light was the light that was coming through a broken window. Jack made his way through the room when he stopped. In front of him was the sound of foot steps, "Whoever you are, show your self."
Jack had his gun up ready to fire if and when he needed to. Out of the shadows came a slender blonde girl, no older the 22. She had her hair up in a high pony tail with two stands that hung on the sides of her face. She wore a black jacket that was open to her close fitting red shirt, along with black skinny jeans and black high heal pumps. Jack thought she had good sense of fashion, but that was not what was important the moment. She couldn't have been the alien that he was looking for, could she?
She stopped in the beam of light that was coming through. "Hello Jack, I have been looking all over for you. You know you're a hard man to find," she spoke with an English accent as she flashed him a seductive smile. Jack hadn't expected that. She was flirting with him.
"Who are you?," Jack still had his gun pointing at her. She moved toward him seemingly swaying her hips on purpose, "Don't come any closer or I'll have to shoot you." She moved right in front of him, face to face. She placed her hand on the barrel of the gun and lowered it. For some reason Jack couldn't bring himself to fight back. There was something about her. Something her recognized, but he couldn't figure out what.
"Your not going to shoot me Jack," Her eyes looked into his. There was this darkness there like this wanting hunger in them. Jack was so mesmerized by her that he didn't notice Rex had been shouting in his ear through the intercom.
"Jack are you there? Jack!"
Jack finally came to his senses and responded, "Yeah Rex I'm here."
"Where the hell were you?"
"I just got a little side tracked," Jack continued to look in her eyes.
"What the hell could you have been side tracked by? You know what never mind, knowing you, you probably found a mirror. Did you find our alien?"
Jack hesitated for a moment and then replied, "Yup. Come meet me at the car." Jack put his gun in his pocket and let out a deep sigh, "You're coming with me back to headquarters."
The girl gave a pleased smile,"What no hand cuffs?"
Jack gave her a half smile. Part of him wouldn't mind putting her in hand cuffs and the other part knew that this was a serious matter and flirting was not important right now, no matter how much he wanted too.
All three of them sat around a table in what looked like a regular house. There was a kitchen, living room, about four rooms, two bathrooms, a den, an up stairs, and a backyard with a pool. Jack and Rex had been sitting there for 20 minutes waiting for her to say something. Finally Rex gave up, "I really don't think she's going to say anything with both of us here. I'll go take a shower or something. Maybe that way she will at least tell you her name." With that, Rex got up and left the room. Jack got up as well and headed towards the kitchen.
"I know he has a rough face, but he's not a bad guy," Jack pulled two mugs out of the cabinet and places them on the counter as he started to pour some coffee, "So lets start from the beginning. Who are you?"
The girl got up and headed over to the kitchen. She sat down in one of the stools that was there along the island in the center, "This is not what I expected when you said that we were going to your headquarters. I was more expecting some underground facility."
Jack finished pouring the creamer into both cups and turned around to hand her one, "You're avoiding the question. Who are you?"
A frown formed on her face and she let out a sigh, "I have traveled very far to see you." She stood up and walked over to him. She took both cups out of his hands and placed them down on the counter as she pressed her body against his, "Instead of me telling you who I am, why don't I show you." She moved her hands up his sides and then wrapped her arms around him. Jack didn't know what to make of this. He looked in here eyes and saw the same darkness as before. He released her arms from around him and took a step to the side.
"You need to stop this and you need to tell me who you are or I'm going to have to lock you up," Jack steadied his voice as to not sound excited by her actions, "I have been trying to be civil with you this whole time so now you need to start talking."
She gave one last sigh before she spoke,"My name is Elizabeth,"
"Alright, now we are getting somewhere," Jack picked up one of the mugs and handed it to her, "Where did you come from and don't tell me some far off place. I need to know exactly."
"But see that's the thing, I did come from a far off place?," Elizabeth protested.
"Alright, how far off?"
Elizabeth sat back down in the stool, "Another universe."
Jack leaned up against the counter, almost sitting on it, "How is that possible?"
"I have a ship that can do it."
"Yes, but I'm telling you that an old friend of mine said that to travel between universes could destroy everything. By you being here is seriously risking that," Jack put his cup down on the counter. He stood up straight, preparing to take her back to her ship.
Elizabeth placed her cup down as well. A look of hurt formed in her eyes. Here she was, traveled far from home to see him and he was going to take her back, "Jack you don't understand, I found a way to travel between universes without so much as disturbing a hair."
Jack looked at her, unsure if he should believe her, "How?"
A smile spread across her face, "Even if I told you, would you even begin to understand?"
Now Jack too was smiling, "I suppose not, but you could at least humor me."
Elizabeth's face became serious suddenly. She stood up and took a deep breath. "No, there is only one thing I could tell you that will make you completely understand." She walked over to him and motioned for him to take a seat, "You might want to sit down for what I'm about to tell you."
Jack looked at her curiously, "I think I'll be ok where I am."
"Alright, but don't say I didn't warn you," she was silent for a second as she looked him in the eyes, "Jack tell me, is there something you notice about me? My hair? My eyes? My face?"
Jack looked at her features and tried to think as to where he saw them before. They were there somewhere deep inside him and he was trying to put that mental puzzle together. "You look familiar, but I know that I have never met you before," a big Jack Harkness smile formed across his face, "I would remember meeting someone like you."
Elizabeth smiled softly. "Yes Jack, I think we would both remember such an encounter," the soft smile faded once more, "I never told you my full name." Jack raised a curious eyebrow. With all seriousness now she spoke,"My name is Elizabeth Jackie Tyler"
