Love Like a Cherry Blossom

It was spring in Tomoeda. The day was one of those days that only come a few times a year: not too hot, not too cold, not to cloudy or too sunny. The cherry blossoms were blooming everywhere. They cherry blossoms were the best part of spring. They only lasted a short time, and if you stopped to blink, they would be gone. But while they were there, they were beautiful.
Sakura Kinomoto and Syaoran Li walked along the sidewalk, letting the sun warm their faces, admiring the cherry blossoms. They did not say much, but even so, it was obvious they were enjoying each other's company. They hadn't seen each other in over a year, and this one week that Syaoran came to visit might be all they time they would have together for a long while. They were out of elementary school now and were having to work harder than ever to keep up their grades. Now was one of those rare moments when neither of them had anything to worry about, and they could both devote all of their time to each other.
As they walked beneath a cherry
tree, one of the blossoms fell off the branch, landing softly in
Sakura's hair. Syaoran reached up and brushed at it gently,
letting it catch the breeze and float lightly away. He used it
as an excuse to admire her hair, soft and glowing in the morning
sunshine.
"You're so beautiful," he
said quietly to her.
"Thank you," she
answered smiling. She looked down. "Syaoran,"
she said, with a worried note in her voice, "I've been thinking
lately and. . ." She paused, as if she was wondering how
to say what she wanted to say. Finally, after a long silence,
she continued. "I've been thinking lately, and I know
we're happy now, but what if I change while you're gone in China?
What if you come back one day, and you absolutely hate me? And
what if you fall in love with someone else in China? Do you
think...that by keeping this up, we're just causing each other more
pain in the long run?" her voice trailed off into silence.
Syaoran did not speak for a long time, but instead looked thoughtfully at the cherry blossoms. He thought a long time about what he wanted to say, making sure every word would be right. But finally, he answered her. "I love you," he said slowly, "And I doubt that I will ever find anybody that I love more than you. But if that day comes, then we'll deal with it then. But let's not ruin what we have right now because we're afraid of what may come later."
Sakura smiled. Slowly, she stood on her toes and brushed her lips against his. "Thank you," she whispered softly, "and I love you too." And they walked together under the cherry trees, admiring the flowers. Just like the cherry blossoms, their love was beautiful. But unlike those blossoms, their love lasted. It lasted through every winter and bloomed brighter in every spring.

A/N: I wrote this story because I wanted to write something sweet, and because lately I've realized how I worry too much about things, and because of that I don't enjoy what I have. Hopefully that will make it seem less random, although I'm sorry if it completely doesn't make sense.
