Lost Rose

The day started like any regular day. And that was what made it horrible. Rose woke up to chirping birds, the sun on her face, a light breeze drifting in through the open window.

What she wasn't waking up to was the wheezing of the Tardis and the distant ranting of the slim, crazy haired alien man she had come to love. She could feel the tears well up in her eyes again and cursed them away. She was so tired so sick of crying.

She didn't want to be crying. She just wanted to be traveling the stars with him. She wanted to be back home.

The world was too calm. She had learned to live life as an ongoing adventure. How could she go back to normalcy? To living day in and day out, each day getting blurred with the rest? What type of life was that?

She missed him so much. It had only been one night. One night and already she could feel a crippling emptiness, a hole in her very being. She hated this, feeling weak and needy like this but.

But she loved him.

Oh, how much she loved him. He was… He was the Doctor. It didn't matter how much danger he put her or himself in or that she never knew his name. He was her saving grace, the one to pull her out of a dull, incessantly routine world.

What was she supposed to do? She had never gone to school, never learned any trades she could go into. She wasn't book smart or very strong. Maybe she could join this world's version of Torchwood? Maybe they were better than her world's Torchwood.

Her world. It wasn't just her love she was leaving behind it was her home. The world she had grown up in. Experienced everything in. Her universe.

She hated this. Being separated from him like this. By force, never able to see each other again. Just one more chance… One more chance to see him, to tell him the truth.

To be able to say a real goodbye.

Maybe he would find a way. He always did. He always came through for her, always saved her. Why couldn't he do that now?

What could she possibly be here? Nothing but an extra face in the crowd. She was a hero with him. A savior, the Bad Wolf. She had destroyed the Daleks, all by his side. Because he convinced her she was more than a shop worker. She would be dead so many times over were it not for him.

She felt so lost. So alone. And she hoped and prayed to anyone or anything that might be listening to find a way to get her back to him.
