There once was a time when Nora utterly despised pancakes. Ever since she was able to eat solid food, their lack of taste disgusted her. Even into her early teens she didn't like them.

"Nora, dear," her mother would say at breakfast. "Eat your pancakes or you'll go hungry until lunch."

"No. They taste nasty and bland," Nora would say with a pout.

The truth was, the problem wasn't pancakes as a whole, it was simply her mother's pancakes that were extremely bland; so bland that no syrup in all of Remnant would bring a hint of taste to it. She would learn this at age thirteen when Ren came over to her house for breakfast.

"Nora!" Sophie, Nora's mom, called up the stairs. "Breakfast!"

"Is it pancakes?" Nora called back from her room.

"Yes! Come down!"

Nora groaned. Doesn't she get that I don't like pancakes? She thought, opening her door. The smell of pancakes wafted up her nose, which she scrunched in disgust. Ugh. Pancakes...

She went down the carpeted stairs and into the kitchen. Nora was wearing her 'Boop' pyjamas she loved so much, she even bought a new set every year so she'd always wear them no matter what.

"Hey mom," Nora waved at her mom with a small smile. "Hey Ren!"

Ren waved back in response, sitting at the breakfast table. He wore white pants and a green short sleeved shirt.

"Ren came over for breakfast today," Sophie smiled, gesturing to the silent boy. "He even made pancakes for us! Come on, try them!"

"Okay!" Nora grinned, sitting down in her chair. She didn't know why, but the thought of Ren making her breakfast sounded very nice.

She picked up her fork and looked at the pancakes. There were three of them on her plate, all golden brown and with purple syrup on top. This better be great, she thought. She stabbed a piecs of her pancake and stuffed it in her mouth. Her eyes were the size of dinner plates as she made a long gasp through her nose. Her face froze like that for a bit.

"Nora?" Ren reached over the table and tapped her shoulder. "Are you okay?"

"This is delicious!" Nora exclaimed happily, munching down on her pancakes rapidly.

"Well, Ren," Sophie laughed in amusement. "It looks like you made her like pancakes."
