Chapter 1
The sun bathes the whole apartment in bright light while Camille goes to the bathroom. It's a beautiful Saturday morning. As she completes her morning routine, she thinks about what she could do this weekend. Then she goes into the living room and faces the big window front. The view is wonderful. France is wonderful. Paris is wonderful. There is a knock on the door and she looks at the clock with a grin. Nine o'clock. Like every Saturday. She opens the door and looks a nineteen-year-old boy in the face. He is wearing a large shoulder bag and smiles at her. "Bonjour, Camille."
Camille returns his smile. "Bonjour, Louis. How are you?"
"Very well. Many thanks. And how are you, Camille?"
"Couldn't be better. Thanks for asking. Do you have something for me?"
He laughs. "I always have something for you, Camille." He pulls a newspaper out of his bag and hands it to her.
"Merci," she says and he grins. "Your last movie was great, by the way."
"You've seen it?"
He nods. "Yes. Together with my girlfriend. Oh, that reminds me ..." He pulls something out of his bag again. This time it's a small notepad. "My girlfriend, Isabelle, asked me to ask you if you could give her an autograph. I told her that I know you. Would you do that, Camille?"
She winks at him. "Well ... actually, I'm not supposed to sign autographs in my free time, but since we've known each other for so long, I'll make an exception."
He smiles and holds the block out to her. She writes her autograph and gives it back to Louis.
"Merci, Camille. Isabelle will be delighted."
"My pleasure."
He puts the pad back in his bag and then looks at his watch. He sighs. "Well, unfortunately I have to go. It was nice to see you, Camille."
"Likewise, Louis. Au revoir."
"Au revoir, Camille. See you next Saturday." He waves to her and then walks down the hall. Camille smiles and goes back to her apartment. There she sits in an armchair by the window and opens the newspaper. It's always the same. The suffering and horror in the world dominates the front page, as well as most of the newspaper. It's so sad. She flips through the rest of the newspaper. However, there doesn't seem to be anything spectacular today, apart from the terrible news in the world. But then suddenly a name catches her eye and her breath stops. Two words, one name. Her eyes wander over the rest of the headline and the world stops at once. She gets dizzy. Once again she reads the headline. Maybe she was wrong:
Big Time Rush singer Logan Mitchell announces engagement!
No, Camille was right. Everything in her suddenly feels numb and empty.
Logan ...
The memories come again. To distract herself from this, she searches in the article for the name of the person who must be the happiest person in the world.
Peggy Young.
Peggy? Peggy, who once moved to the Palm Woods for a short time?
The Palm Woods ...
Logan ...
Peggy ...
Engaged ...
"Mommy?"
Camille quickly puts the newspaper aside. A second later, Mia enters the living room. Her wonderful daughter Mia. Camille smiles, walks up to her and hugs her. "Good morning, sweetheart. Did you sleep well?"
Mia nods and returns the hug. "And you?"
"Great," Camille replies, kissing her. "Are you hungry?"
"Yes!"
At breakfast, Mia tells Camille about her dream she had last night. Camille listens, laughs and pretends that everything is alright. But she can't get this newspaper article out of her head. And while she listens to Mia, she thinks of Logan.
Of Logan, whom she hasn't seen in five years, who is now happily engaged and who doesn't know that he has a four-year-old daughter named Mia ...
