A Moment in Time
By Sierra Omega
Notes: This is just a really short ditty I wrote in my Advertising and Design class. It's complete randomness that takes a peek into the mind of our beloved Forte.

He lived in the moment, never stopping to think his decisions through. He reveled in the power he held over his life, despite the shadows that loomed over him nonetheless. It was the only singular pleasure he could ever bask within, to absorb as nourishment for his soul.
But at the same time, he craved complete freedom. He hated being cramped within the stone walls of the fortress… with its dull, lifeless inhabitants and their dull, lifeless lives. There wasn't a thing to do except to brood incessantly, and he was quickly growing irritated with the game. Even when he went out to give chase to his rival, he still felt chained to his 'duties,' as his creator had termed it.
He didn't care what anyone thought; he figured it was better that everyone was paralyzed with fear every time he decided to tramp down the halls in listless boredom. Hell, to him, sometimes it was quite amusing for him to see their scurrying forms take to the shadows and hide.
Still, it was somewhat disconcerting to realize that no one had ever given a thought to Forte himself; he was alive and had emotions, too… but whether or not he had a heart? The jury was still out.
He envied his rival, Megaman, who could come and go as he wished at any time… such was the way of his creator, Dr. Light. But, in stark contrast, Dr. Wily kept an iron fist and an eagle eye over all of his creations at all times, for the old man was always paranoid that one of them would eventually run off and wreak havoc on his own. Feh… Some fuckin' team effort, the 'bot commented darkly to himself.
I hate it here…
he thought angrily. Why can't I just leave and go wherever I please? The old man's always calling me to go on some mission or another… hell, he even makes me go on every damned errand he can think of, just to keep me here! I wonder if I should bend my power a bit… make some of the other 'bots handle all the work. A devilish grin crossed his face, fangs glinting in the harsh torchlight and violet cheek stripes stretching to compensate the leer."I'm a genius!" he proclaimed aloud, releasing a strain of laughter bordering on maniacal hysteria. He stopped after a moment, letting the sounds ring and echo in the darkened halls. And now to find my victim… I mean… my surrogate gopher…

It had been all too easy. Picking out the most reliable and… breakable to his whims, Forte charged Cut Man with the task of gathering a long list of parts from a nearby city.
"Be sure you don't get caught by that Blueberry," he'd said pointedly. "Or yer ass is mine. Got it?" The smaller robot had gulped, nodding feverishly before scrambling to do the domineering one's bidding.
And now, at least for a while, Forte was free. For a single moment in time… he was free.
