Ven sat on the edge of the bench, swinging his legs back and forth. He was upset. Okay, maybe a little bit more than upset. He had just lost a match to Terra. It wouldn't be such a big deal if this wasn't around the fifth time that he had done so. Sure, Terra was going to be qualifying to be a keyblade master, and Ven was just getting his start, but he could at least take it easy on him!
Throwing his head back so it was behind the bench, Ven's bangs fell out of his face and he came face to face with a blue haired girl. Her smile eased the strain on his heart as he looked at her, his arms outstretched behind him. She had a box in her hand as she looked at him and she bent forward slightly.
"Whatcha doin'?" She asked him, tossing the box from one hand to the other.
"I'm sulking." He told her, staring into her eyes, head still hanging back. She took a seat on the bench which forced him to sit upright again so he could see her.
"Oh—don't worry about it. Terra has been using his keyblade more than you have. He's had it longer." She said softly.
"That's the thing. You and Terra are so strong." He crossed his arms. "I can't catch up. You two are already taking your qualification exam."
Aqua laughed softly, causing the blond to glance at her confused. "Oh Ven."
"What?"
"You are strong, you know? You just need practice. You will probably be as strong as us in no time."
"Yeah right." He scoffed, looking downward.
"Besides—"
He looked at her to find her staring off into the distance as she spoke. He never noticed how pretty she looked when she wasn't irritated by something Terra said; which was all the time. She looked beautiful when she was just smiling off into the distance, talking like this.
"What?"
"You are the fastest. I always joke with Terra that you are a speed demon." She placed her hand to her mouth as she giggled softly.
"Am I that fast?"
"Extremely."
It was a quiet moment after that as the two sat in comfortable silence. The noises of the crickets echoed as the two looked out at the night sky. Looking over, Ventus saw the small box that now laid in Aqua's lap.
"What's that, Aqua?" He pointed to the box. She let out a small giggle.
"Oh—it's for you! I thought that it would make you feel better." She handed him the box, watching him pull the ribbon slowly off and lift up the top of it to show what was inside. It was his charm that she gave him. Or at least—it looked like it. It was changed a little and more neat than it was before.
"Wow—it's really nice. Way more put together than the other one."
"Yeah—I thought about it and I noticed that it wasn't as nice as Terra's or mine so I re-did it for you. I also wrote good luck on the back—see?" She flipped it over and pointed. "You will become a great keyblade master, Ven."
He stared into her eyes and then smiled, looking down with a laugh.
"Thanks. You will too you know." He told her, rubbing her shoulder. He didn't expect it, but she pulled in into a hug, her head on his. She was taller than him, you know. Rubbing his back with the tips of her fingers, it sent shivers down his spine.
"Thank, Ven."
Off in the distance, a taller form stood on the hill, a keyblade thrown over his shoulder.
"Hey lovebirds!" The comment made Ventus blush. "Ven! I challenge you to another match. I'll go easy on you."
Ventus looked over at Aqua with a smile on his face and she returned it whole heartedly. Placing a hand on his cheek, she winked, "Go get 'em."
This is the request I got from songs. I tried to make it as canon as possible, but it doesn't help that I haven't played the game yet!
I hope that it was as good as you wanted. Sorry it isn't too long!
