Falling
Quote of the day
Sometimes, you make me so mad
I want to throw you into the middle of on-going traffic;
but then I realise I would probably kill myself trying to save you."

Clouded by memories of the past"

It wasn't meant to be like this, he mused, as he fell. A quick and easy heist, every step and timing calculated perfectly. But neither of them calculated for this outcome. And how like the spirit fox thief, to vanish like smoke once the alarm sounded.
Youko Kurama's first heist was simple as it was easy; relieve his mark of a poor over-stuffed wallet.
Youko Kurama's last heist was not as simple as it was elaborate; steal the jewels on which Yuusuke scribbled names of contestants, going through a gazillion guards and seals and locks to the treasury.
But somewhere between his first and last heists, he had stolen the heart of a grumpy little fire demon, and he delighted in the knowledge, greedy bastard.
Which led to the current situation, of Hiei falling from a ridiculously high cliff, thrown off due to a ridiculously careless mistake, by a ridiculously not slow-witted guard (and that was really uncommon- cheap help was preferred almost always), for a ridiculously ridiculous reason.
Stupid fox. Stupid heist. Stupid heart.
He'd almost resigned himself to dying- he couldn't fly, and he definitely wasn't light enough to float, damn Yuusuke and his teasing- when he heard his name.
Hiei opened his eyes. Damned fox was jumping to his own death now. What idealistic notion of romance had the human world drilled into him? It wasn't a 'you jump, I jump!' situation like that sinking boat romance movie Kurama once made him sit through with his mother.
He sneered when Kurama grabbed him.
"I never thought you were this much of a sappy idiot."
But the damned fox only smiled.
And then he was sprouting wings. Hiei frowned, remembering the last time Kurama used these particular plants- that time when they were falling into Makai after Sensui.
So maybe death was cheated again. That was just fine by him. And if he gripped Kurama a little tighter, it wasn't because he thought he'd never have a chance to again.
So, like Hiei said, it wasn't meant to be like this. :P I just randomly wrote this. Might interest someone, so I uploaded it. :)
