Merry Christmas fearthedark10 and all ya'll. RxR. Hope you enjoy! (I know it's short)

"Dreams are answers to questions we haven't yet figured out how to ask."

Messy black hair and jovial hazel eyes swirled around in a hazy white fog. A bouncy redhead ran to the boy who stood under a blooming cherry tree. Running into his arms he spun her around, cherry blossoms fluttering down around them.

Lily woke, alone in the dark. She had fallen asleep on an old, wooden and rout-iron bench near the forbidden forest. A cherry tree towered above her in all its glory. Lily sat up and gently ran a hand over her silk dress. Her cream dress was embellished with cream-colored flowers and leaves and trailed the ground. Her long, curly, auburn hair was in a loose bun at the nape of her neck. Her shoes were somewhere along the path from the great hall to where she currently sat. The ball had been a disaster only for her. Margarite, Lily's ex-best friend as of tonight, had run off with Lily's ex-boyfriend as of tonight. The infamous Marauders had mocked and ridiculed her for being betrayed. She had run, crying from the dance. The Head Girl, one of the strong elder students, a leader.

Lily looked around at the rising sun; she must have been asleep for at least five or six hours. Shimmering light reflects off the lake surface from the sun. Cherry blossoms floated down around Lily as she gazed out across the lush, green grounds and cool lake.

"Lily? What are you doing out here?" A deep, warm voice carried over the warm breeze. Lily looked up, tear streaks stained her face, James stood a few feet away from her. He still wore his classy dress robes, which made her wonder what he had been doing all night.

"The Marauders and I have been looking all over for you since you ran out last night. We felt bad for upsetting you and wanted to find you to apologize. It was wrong of us to tease you after what happened with Margarite and, well, him. Are you alright?" Lily turned away, a tear streaking down her face.

"I never loved him, but I thought Margarite was a real friend. I guess I don't have very good taste in people." Lily laughed dryly. James came around and sat beside her on the bench. "How long have I been gone?" James smirked.

"About four or five hours." Lily raised her eyebrows. "You've been looking for me for that long?" James looked sheepish. "Well, yeah, Peter lost the map again." Lily looked curious. "What map?" James scratched the back of his head and muttered about something or other. "Never mind." Lily laughed.

"Hey, James? I know this is a weird time, but I was...thinking, and I. Will you go out with me?" Lily blushed and looked down at her hands. James rough, calloused hands took hers and smiled. His warm voice washed over her and made her look up.

"I would like that." A smile spread across Lily's face. A cherry blossom floated down and landed in Lily's hair as they stood. She giggled as James took her hand as they walked back toward the castle.
