Ladies and gentlemen, I do hereby present the latest victim of my parody tendencies, created at the last minute, no thanks to Shiku and the YYH crew flaking out on me. At least Shiku wandered back in time. This year's victims, as mentioned in the summary, are Rudolph and poor Kenshin—though the song focuses mostly on Kenshin's past. I tried hard, but Battousai just did not want to do funny. —sighs— Hope you still like it.

Disclaimer: I do not own Kenshin, Battousai, or anything involving the Rurouni Kenshin series except merchandise. I'm just borrowing them.

In the depths of the history of ancient Japan
Hidden in war there lived a strange man
Those in this era recall
That most famous manslayer of all…

Himura the hitokiri
Had long hair of crimson flame,
And if you ever saw him,
He'd say "Go back the way you came."

If you ignored his warning,
And wore a Shinsengumi blade,
You'd never see the dawning,
For you would be quickly slain.

Then one bloody battle's end,
Himura walked away.
Took up instead his reverse blade
And on that night a vow he made.

Now he lives as rurouni,
Vowing never again to slay,
Though Kenshin may stop wandering,
He'll keep that vow to his last day.

Here's a quick glossary for those of you who don't know Japanese or aren't familiar with the series:

Hitokiri: manslayer
Shinsengumi: a group of fighters stationed mostly in Kyoto, and the biggest source of trouble for Kenshin and his side. They fought to protect the current regime, whereas Kenshin fought for change.
Rurouni: a wanderer
