A Smile is louder than words
A/N: my first fic to this pairing, I'm thinking of writing more it was fun :) This is unbeated so please forgive any errors
Doctor Jennifer Keller took a deep breath and pushed the door chime. Several long moments passed before the tall, muscular form of Ronon Dex filled the doorway. She flashed her sweetest smile and held out a bright green bag filled to the brim with red tissue paper and topped with plenty of glitter.
"Merry Christmas," She beamed.
Ronon looked at her, then at the bag. "What is that?"
Not quite the reaction she'd been hoping for. "It's a Christmas present. You know, that holiday Colonel Sheppard told you and Teyla about last week."
"Oh."
He was a man of few words. "So are you going to open it?" She said after he just continued to stare at her with an odd expression on his face that she couldn't quite interpret.
"I didn't get you anything."
"That's okay. I didn't expect you too, it's not like you celebrate it anyway. But for me the fun lies in the giving of presents. Could I come in?"
Silence. But he did remove himself from the doorway. Jennifer took that as an invitation and stepped inside. She headed for the only desk in the room and set her gift down.
He was still staring at her in that strange way. Ronon wasn't an easy person to get to know, but she had spent some time with him recently. There was more to him than bravado and weapons. She had seen that on more than one occasion. Anyone willing to die for their friends was a good sort in her book. His silence didn't intimate her.
"Are you going to make me wait all day or are you going to open it?" She crossed her arms across her chest and tried to glare.
He only snorted. She couldn't blame him, she didn't do tough well.
"Well." She raised her chin slightly.
He raised his eyebrows, strode over, and began extracting tissue paper from the bag. She had to suppress a giggle at the sight of this hulking warrior shaking glitter off his fingertips. He reached the gift laying at the bottom and removed it. He eyed it curiously.
"A TV Show?" Ronon guessed.
She stepped closer, her arm brushed against his. He didn't move away. Not that she was paying attention to things like that.
"It's called a DVD. This one is on wrestling. I know how much you love fighting. I thought you might enjoy seeing some of Earths...techniques."
He turned the DVD over and seemed to focus on a picture of a man holding another man over his head. She thought she saw the start of a smile on his lips.
"Umm..thank you."
"You're welcome."
When he said nothing else, she took that as her cue and started towards the door. "Well, I guess
I-."
"Do you want to watch it with me?"
She blinked, but managed to keep the surprise off her face. "I'd like that."
"Good. Maybe I could teach you a few different defense moves later. You know, like a present."
The surprise got harder to hide. "Only if you promise not to use anything you see on that DVD on me."
"Deal."
She snuck a glance at his face as they headed out of his quarters. He was smiling.
