Sorry I haven't uploaded anything in a while, my computer is crap. I don't own characters or the poem. The poem belongs to Bill Knott. On with the story!

Another crumpled paper flew across the room, missing the overflowing trashcan. Sighing, Hiei ran his hands through his hair for what seemed like the 100th time that day. "I can't do anything right when it comes to her." He complained , brooding silently to himself. Looking out the window, he sees the girl that plagues his mind night and day.

Luscious pink lips pulled up in a laughing smile. Soft sapphire eyes overflowing with joy. Raven hair flowing in a stream of darkness behind her. Creamy skin contrasting to her hair. He can imagine himself holding her in his arms, lulling her to sleep by whispering soft nothings in her ear. Every time he's near her, he starts to smile from her unbridled joy. He knows why he's like this. The fox told him that he was in love with the priestess. Hiei wasn't stupid, he knew what love was. It was just unfamiliar to him. Shaking his head, he looked back at the blank sheet of paper lying innocently in front of him.

Taking the pencil in his hand he thought back on what Yukina had told him. "Write about how she makes your heartbeat wildly. Why you love her. Something that expresses your love for her." Coming across an Idea, he writes it down and checks over the charcoal runes. Smiling slightly, he puts it in an envelope and leaves it on her bed.

Kagome walks in her room, holding a sleeping Shippo in her arms. Walking to her bed she put the kit down, then she sees the letter on her pillow. Confused, she opens it and reads the poem on the white paper.

The way the world is not

astonished at you

it doesn't blink a leaf

when we step from the house

leads me to think that beauty is natural,

unremarkable and not to be spoken of

except in the course of things

the course of singing and worksharing

the course of squeezes and neighbors

the course of you, tying back your raving hair to go out

and the course, of course, of me

astonished at you

the way the world is not.

A soft smile embraced her face as a small tear rolled down her cheek. Putting the letter down she walks outside to find the forbidden child leaning against the Goshinboku. Walking up to him, she stands there, waiting for him to take notice of her. She didn't have to wait long, his nose pick up her scent as the wind shifted, and when he looked up, her hair was sweeping past her shoulder.

Ruby locked onto sapphire and silence consumed the both of them. Hiei broke the silence by asking the question that trembled from his lips and made his heart flutter. "Do you love me Kagome?" Hiei wasn't an idiot, he knew about Inuyahsa, but...he could still hope...right? He looked in her eyes and knew she didn't love him. He turned to leave when she put her small hand on his arm.

He slowly turned to see her, but had no time to say anything because her soft lips were on his immediately. Relishing this moment, he wrapped his arms around her waist, and she wrapped her arms around his neck. When the kiss was over, she pulled away and rested her head on his shoulder, whispering to him, "I love you Hiei, I just wanted you to make the first move." A real smile showed on his face as he hugged her tighter, for fear of losing her to that wretched hanyou.

Hoped you liked it. I won't be posting till after my birthday, because I'm hoping to get a laptop to replace this stupid computer that freezes every 5 minutes. See ya!
