(A tribute to former DC players)
I stand alone again, Watching the night fade and the Sun rise its Glory, As it does from Time to Time.
As the Knights and Heroes flock, Like that of the clear clouds, I realize one is gone.
One of my Friends or Foes is gone.
What makes them leave? Is it Work or Education? Or is it Marriage and Love? Or perhaps an Accident?
They are gone, At least for a while.
I watch and listen to the activities within the Tavern, Waiting for more to appear and join in, And while this goes on I leave.
As I fight the Evils of this Realm, I think of my Friends and Enemies, Both equal in Strength and Soul, Of whom have driven me to great lengths.
I retire to my sleepless suite, closing my eyes and laying down quietly.
And as Dawn apporaches, I awake and wait for my Friends to appear, Knowing my Enemies may come too.
But they still do not arrive.
Thoughts fly by as I continue to go on, Knowing that they may return.
But they do not.
I wait an Hour, A Day, A Year.
And yet they do not return to this Realm.
I know now that this is my Truth, That it clings upon us like Iron, And of how it reaches and tells us, That one day we may not return.
I close my eyes, Tired for a long time due to drink and fight, And enter the Dreams.
And as I awake, I realize that some new folk have arrived, Strong and Equal like that of the Past.
I smile at them and greet them, Sometimes Friendly, Sometimes Mean.
But I know that eventually I may leave as well, For a long, long Time.
