What happened in the treehouse :A to kill a mockingbird fanfic
I looked across as Jem and Scout came rushing towards me waving frantically. Quickly, I rushed out the door of my aunties and ran to meet them. "Scout, Jem!"I cried as I caught up with them panting heavily. "Hey Dill!"Scout replied grinning. "I'm eight now."I said proudly, it had been my birthday last week. "What shall we play?"Jem asked. I smiled when I heard his voice, it had gotten deeper since last summer and he'd gotten taller too. I'm still as small as ever. "I know let's play cowboys and Indians!" Scout shouted eagerly. "But I wanna be a cowboy!" Jem shrugged."Sure, but I want Dill on my team caus the cowboys always win." "Yeah, that's caus I'm always a cowboy."Scout retorted. "And that's not fair caus me and Dill are gonna get married!" That was true, I had proposed to her last summer but she was the only girl I knew and I kinda wanted to get it out the way with. Jem sighed. "Yeah Scout but he's still with me. Let's find a base then we can start." I watched as Scout ran of towards Miss Maudies as me and Jem ran round the back of the Finch's house. "Jem, wait up!"I called running up next to him. "You know I'm smaller than you so don't run so fast!" Jem stopped and we walked on for a bit in silence, the only think I could hear was the mockingbirds singing. "Shall we go up to the treehouse, that'd make a nice base." "Sure."I answered as Jem started to climb up the wobbly rope ladder to the top of the tree. I followed once he was about half way up and we plonked ourselves onto the wooden floor, giggling with exhaustion. Then we stopped and there was silence until I said, "Ummmm... Jem. Why do girls have to like boys?" Jem looked at me quizzingly before saying, "I dunno, I guess you need the girl to make the babys." I nodded before asking. "How are babies ma-" "Ssssh"Jem replied, pressing a soft finger to my lips. "I guess you'll find out once your old enough." "But Jem, can't men adopt a baby, they'd love it just as much."I said thoughtfully. "Well I don't see why not!"He replied cheerily. I gazed contently into the beautiful landscape of Maycomb county. I sat up suddenly as I felt Jem's hand brush mine. "Sorry." "It's okay." I felt his soft hand rest on mine again, the soft warmth radiating through my body.
Maybe it's okay to like boys.
