Because why not?He had become her mate.

And she had agreed with it, even though I had told her that I loved her.

Everyone had been happy with it, even her. They had a beautiful mating ceremony. Even the Queen was happy, and you know how hard she is to please. Both of them looked so beautiful together, everyone said.

I hated him.

She had even asked for my blessing. As if she couldn't see the pain in my eyes. I gave it to her, of course. She was my only friend and deserved to be happy with her mate.

If only it had been me.

It would have been fine if it was only mates. They could always split apart. But then it happened. Two its happened.

Children. Elves say that children are the greatest symbol of true love. Yet how could she love him, when I loved her?

It should have been my children she had, not his.

Then she called me over to play with her two beautiful children. One boy with raven hair and blue eyes, and a girl with green eyes and brown hair. I was introduced as their uncle. I should have been their father.

And the worst thing was that they truly loved each other? I could see it when they talk to each other, and when they looked at their children.

Where was I to fit in this? The only part that I wanted was taken. Now I was just a lone rider, with nobody to care for.

And that's why I did it.

She was pregnant again, with their third child. Their third symbol of their true love. It could not happen. Nobody could stop me.

I picked up Brisingr and crept into their room. Their family, their oh so beautiful family lay their, prone on the bed. I cast a spell making me invisible and noiseless. They had no idea what was coming.

He went first. He stole her from me, and ruined my life. The blood splattered over the bed as I beheaded him. I would do more, but it would have to wait.

Then they went next. The symbol of their love, praised by all of elfkind. Their throats went first, and then their arms. The bed was covered in a red stain.

And finally, her. She accepted him, even though I loved her. I cast a spell that paralyzed her. I could have all the fun I wanted now, their was nobody to stop me. First, I cut of her foot. Her eyes flashed open, emerald glints staring around the room in terror. I removed the invisibility spell. She stared at me, uncomprehending. Then she realized.

Next, I lifted her head up and showed her family to her. She stared, and then looked back at me in rage. Now she knew how I felt when she had mated with him.

I sliced of her leg. She tried to scream, but no sound came out. I sliced of her other leg, and then her arm. The bed was painted in red. I chopped of her other arm. Now she couldn't do anything.

And then their was one last thing to do before I killed her. I stabbed Brisingr through he abdomen, killing the child. She stared at me in misery, tears leaking from her eyes.

I stared at her, feeling no regret. And then with a final blow, her head fell to the floor.

I was satisfied.

It was over now. I had to get away, but I knew that I never would. Saphira would reveal what I did to the queen. There was no point in living anymore.

I giggled, looking at the elven princess. We had thought we would fall in battle, yet we would both fall in the battles of the heart. And with no regret to give, I lay beside her and slit my throat with Brisingr. It was over now.

The epic romance of Eragon Shadeslayer and Arga Dröttningu, destined to outlast empires, was over.
