The Worst Thing
Ben awoke in bed and righted himself the second Gwen shrieked. His eyes went wide. He glanced down at his body resting on the bunk bed in his Grandfather's RV. He recalled an enjoyable dream before waking. It involved him consuming large amounts of ice cream after winning a gaming contest. He grumbled in annoyance. He dismounted from the bed and walked to locate the source of Gwen's shrill noise. His face formed a shocked expression when he observed Gwen with tears on her cheeks while trembling at the sight of a large spider. He observed his Grandfather attempting to comfort her.
"Girls are always such crybabies! They tend to be scared of everything. I don't know why Gwen had to come along on a road trip when she's going to cry at every bug that wanders in. I'm so lucky I was born a boy!" Ben muttered to himself. He went outside to get away from the loud perpetual blubbering from his cousin. "I also don't have to worry about things like wearing dresses, high heels, makeup, so on. That and babies and periods! Gross," he mumbled as he walked down the dirt road until a scorpion appeared beneath his foot and stung him. He screamed. The world faded as darkness consumed him. He felt himself lying on the ground until he passed out.
Hours later, Ben opened his eyes and recognized his surroundings to be a darkened room. The last thing he recalled was walking to get away from his crying cousin until he stepped on a poisonous scorpion. His eyes grew large upon the realization.
"Am I dead?" Ben wondered aloud. He became very afraid.
"You're not dead, Jennifer," said a familiar deep voice.
Ben recognized it as his Grandfather. He sat up. He was shocked to see his Grandfather next to him in a hospital setting. He soon realized he was in a hospital bed. What confused him was the small boy with red hair next to his Grandfather.
"What happened, Grandfather? How did I get in this hospital? And why did you call me Jennifer?" Ben asked.
He gasped after hearing his high, feminine voice. He looked down at his body. He gasped louder. He was a girl!
"Because that is your name?" his Grandfather responded in a worried voice. "I hope you don't have latent amnesia! You got quite a bump on the noggin."
"You witnessed a scorpion and nearly had a heart attack, you doofus! You ran into a wall and hit your head trying to get away from it," said his cousin, Glen. "Girls are such hysterics! You injured yourself trying to get away from a harmless little arachnid!" He made a face at her. On his wrist was the Omnitrix.
Unable to help herself, Jennifer Tennyson began to cry uncontrollably.
"What a crybaby!" Glen teased until his Grandfather told him to stop.
The End!
