Eight Stages of Silence

Shiro used to stare out of the window. He would look outside, from his hospital bed and see the blanket of snow that was almost never absent from Hokkaido. It was alright when things were calm, but when the winter blizzards rolled in, so the storm in his head would also rage on.

Papa. Mama. Atsuya.

They weren't dead.

They couldn't be dead.

It was wrong.

It was all wrong.

He couldn't be alive if they were dead.

He shouldn't be alive if they were all dead.

Wrong.

"Big brother. I'm here."

"Atsuya?" What was Atsuya doing in the window?

"Papa and Mama are gone, big brother."

"You're lying."

"I'm not. But we're both still here."

"B-but – "

"We can't do anything about it, big brother. The only thing we can do is fulfill their dream for us."

"Their dream?"

"For us to be the perfect defender-forward combination."

"Perfect?"

"Perfect."

"Okay Atsuya. Let's do this for Papa and Mama."

"We'll be the best football players in the world."

"I can't wait."

He fell asleep after that, and when he woke up, his brother was no longer in the window. He almost screamed, then he noticed the scarf on his bedside table. That was Atsuya's scarf. He wrapped it around his neck, almost too tightly.

"Good morning, big brother."

Atsuya was back again.

"Good morning Atsuya."

A/N: Tadaa! My entries are going from seem to be jumping around from happy and funny (?) to sad (ish?) and just weird. Ahahahahaha.

I never thought my first Inazuma fic would turn out like this...I thought it would have been shippy or comedy. Whoops. The prompt this time was Partners in Crime. I figured it'd be alright to write this for the Fubuki twins, since it's not like the term is only used when people do bad things. Not that there are actually two twins. Just you know, Shiro and his disorder. ...Yes, I'll stop talking now.

And hey, look CG! I fit a football thing into T-Sauce again! Haha x3 This was part of Twelve Shots of Summer - a challenge here on ffnet. If ya have the time please go read the other fics!

Thanks for reading!
