I asked my mum if she wanted me to write a fic for her, this was the only couple she could think of that she really wished had happened, so ma, this one's for you.
"Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave." Jareth pleads, watching Sarah cradle Toby.
"I can't just leave everything. You know that! My family, my friends, Toby…" She whispers.
"Please Sarah, you have friends here, Hoggle, the other goblins. I'll give you everything you could ever dream of."
"What about Toby, will he go home? Will he even remember me?" She sighs, staring down at the baby in her arms.
"Of course, my dear. He will know how you love him, how you searched for him, you can see him whenever you like." He moves closer, sweeping his thin fingers over her cheek.
She glances up at him, eyes filled with unshed tears and nods almost imperceptibly.
The clock strikes midnight and she watches as the palace vanishes around her, replaced with Toby's room in her own home. It smells like roses and her father and she clings to Toby tightly as Jareth gently leads her to Toby's crib.
"It's not a goodbye forever love." He murmurs, as he leans to take Toby and put him down.
"I love you little brother." Sarah sighs, staring down at him before he starts to swim out of focus. The whole room rolls as though they're in a pond and someone has thrown a rock in before her feet hit the floor of the Goblin King's palace once again.
"Welcome home." Jareth murmurs into her ear as he wraps his arms tightly around her waist.
She smiles sadly, watching as Goblin's stream in through every door, cheering as they see her and their king. She spins slowly to face him, still encircled in his tight embrace, she gazes at him and runs her fingers across his jaw and over his lips as he exhales slowly. When he leans down and presses a soft kiss to her cheek she finally lets herself relax.
"If this is to be my home, we're going to need to redecorate a bit." They both laugh quietly and Jareth nods slowly, leaning in to capture her lips with his.
