Scruffy-looking Nerf Herder
Rey and Ben stood facing each other, shoulders squared, and lightsabers drawn. It wasn't unusual that they were fighting, as they always did. In fact, they had a very strange relationship. They were often at each other's throats, and yet they always had each other's backs. A very strange relationship indeed.
It happened to be one of those "at each other's throats" moments when it happened. They had been throwing insults at each other for a while when Rey had finally had enough. Her blood was boiling, and she could have sworn that steam was coming out of her ears.
"Ben, you scruffy-looking Nerf herder!" She yelled at him, face red and pieces of hair flying. Everything went still, and it appeared that even the wind was holding its breath to see what would happen.
Ben was transported into a memory he had long since forgotten.
His mother and father had been arguing, and young Ben had tuned them out as always, more focused on the pebbles he was trying to move with the force. All of the sudden he heard a loud exclamation from his mother.
"You scruffy-looking nerf herder!" He heard his mother shout. The silence after was defeating. Then his father replied, "Who's scruffy lookin?" But there was a change. Ben could sense it. There was no more anger. In fact, it Ben could have sworn his father was smiling.
Ben snapped back into the present, and took in Rey. She was breathtaking in her anger, and Ben couldn't help but find her attractive. Just as he also couldn't help the grin that broke out on his face as he got in her face and replied, "Who's scruffy lookin?"
Rey tried to hold in her own laughter at the ridiculous argument, but she ended up grinning at him as well, and they both broke out into laughter.
Luke Skywalker had been observing his best Padawans quietly. He was quite amused by their antics, and today was no exception. He was unprepared however for the deja vu that struck him when Rey insulted Ben. He couldn't help but be reminded of how similar to Han and Leia they acted. It didn't take a force sensitive to see that they were as much in love as his friends had been. He supposed he should also not be too surprised by the passionate kiss his two padawans were sharing.
The old Jedi master smiled to himself. He wouldn't ruin their moment today, but he was definitely going to tell his sister about this little exchange. Of course, he was also going to collect his prize money as well. After all, he had won the bet.
A/N: Just a little something I cooked up in my head. Please let me know if you want me to continue this story in a bit of a miniseries. I'm thinking about doing little small things like this in my AUverse of Ben and Rey as padawans. I hope you enjoyed!
