Kou, the abandoned land. Ever since the former king killed his own Kirin, Kourin, the country has been in chaos. Civil wars, famines, floods, earthquakes. The list was never ending. Yet, the people never gave up hope. The hope still remained that a new ruler would be found. However, there was still a doubt. The people feared that the new ruler would end up like the previous king, Saku-o. He had attempted to kill the new queen of Kei, claiming that he was saving his world.
Kouki, a new male Kirin born on Mt. Ho. His birth was a joy to everyone. However, year after year, people trekked up, hoping to be the king. Yet, none was chosen. Years passed, and soon the number of people who went up the mountain decreased.
Ryujin, a Taika who flowed down to the land of the Twelve Kingdoms two years ago. Yet, her life has been nothing but miserable. Trapped in a world where she looked different and spoke a different language, all she could do was beg along the streets of Kou. After a few years, she soon learned the language and left for En.
This is the story of the reborn country of Kou. It follows the time when Kouki is born to the time the queen is found. With the destined queen in En, how will Kouki manage to find her in time before the Kingdom of Kou becomes ruins?
