Disclaimer: I don't own any characters from Harry Potter. I'm just a fan.
Severus Snape made his way through the gates of the cemetery at dusk carrying a bouquet of lilies in his pale, slender fingers.
A tear rolled down his cheek as he thought about Lily Evans, his childhood friend. At last, he reached her grave.
Exhaling a strangled sigh, he knelt, hoping that no one else was here. "Lily," he said hoarsely, for a lump had formed in his throat. He swallowed painfully. "I hope you like these flowers."
Gently, he laid the delicate white lilies on her grave. They rustled slightly in the gentle breeze.
He mopped his now watery black eyes and stood up slowly. Images of Lily flashed through his mind. Her soft tinkling laugh was heard.
Severus was thrown into misery once more. Lily's laugh and musical voice were gone now. They were gone forever.
He released her, forlorn. "I hope you hear this, Lily," he whispered. "I love you. Don't ever forget that." Tears flooded his eyes. He didn't bother stopping them.
After a minute, Severus picked himself up and started back to the castle, the place where their friendship is still remembered.
Thanks for reading! This is my first story ever so don't be too harsh. Sorry that it's so short. I'll make it up to you later. I'm working on another story right now. Hope to get that published soon, too! Until then… write on! :-D
