NOTE: This is only the introduction... Next chapter will time skip till the graduation.
Far and wide, it was an empty land. The occasional house was dotted around, but apart from that all that resided there were fields upon fields of green grass. It was peaceful, a farming land really, well that was how most saw it, but those living there knew of the dangers that lay in the distance. However, the dangers had never been a problem, as long as the humans stayed in there area, this 'danger' would never come.
"Look at this!" A white-haired boy, around the age of 8, placed a small plant on the floor before pulling a stick from his pocket. Sparing a glance for the plant the boy smiled, waving the wand in the air. A fog shrouded the boy but quickly began to clear, through the clearing the boy was stood behind an earth coloured beetle-like thing. A scarab.
"Cool, huh?" The boy grinned over to his two friends, the same age as him. The taller boy, dark-haired with the lightest blue eyes simply gazed in awe, whilst the smallest of the three -blonde haired with red eyes- dashed forwards towards the scarab.
"Woah... How did you do that?! You gotta teach me before we attend the academy... 'Kay?" The blonde crouched down by the strange creature, tapping its back gently, but the creature then jumped into the air, burrowing its way under ground.
"Sure... I can teach you" The white haired boy nodded, glancing down at the plant, "But... About that... I can't come to the academy..."
"You have to come! We're gonna be the greatest, right?" The blonde now stood to his feet.
"But the plant... Bartleby... He doesn't want to leave..."
"Shouta... Let me speak to Merle." It was turn for the dark-haired boy to speak.
The dark-haired boy stepped over to Merle, his hand shooting forwards.
"We will go to the academy, and when we graduate we will meet you again... Then, lets duel..."
Merle's eyes shot wide open, staring silently at the dark-haired boy.
"Its a deal... Kai" His words were but a murmur, although his hand was quickly grabbed by Kai's.
-Two weeks later-
Finally, the day had arrived. The prestigious new Pigswick academy was ready to open, it had invited aspiring young students from all over the world to start learning the ways of magic under the founder and Headmaster, Walker Crisp.
In all honesty, Walker himself had only been able to use magic for the past year, but with all the economic opportunities available by running a school he didn't want to miss out.
Kai and Shouta were both packed, they had suitcases at the ready as they waited for the 'bus' to arrive, to take them to campus.
" Are you suuuuure you won't come, Merle?" Shouta asked, his head cocked to the side.
Merle shook his head, the plant safely with-in his arms in a small brown pot. Actually, the plant was growing quickly, it had doubled in size the past two weeks.
A gale of wind blew through the small civilization the boys resided in, accompanied by a large horse-like sound that ripped through the air. With-in seconds, a very large white and blue horse-looking creature appeared.
"Is... that a horse?" The blonde enquired, his head tilted to the side as he inspected the animal.
"A pegasus" Kai corrected him, Merle nodding along chuckling quietly. "Shouta, we need to leave. Climb on"
The blonde followed the instructions of the taller boy, climbing on the large creature before glancing back at his white-haired friend. Kai followed without hesitation, sitting behind Shouta and hooking both their suitcases to the saddle of the pegasus.
"We'll be back, Merle, wait for us" A small smile crept upon Kai's face as the Pegasus took flight, they were leaving Merle behind, but Kai knew full well the white-haired boy had become more than capable to learn on his own.
