Part 1
Dreams
It starts with sleeping (and dreaming while she sleeps).
She almost everyday feels an uncontrollable urge to just cuddle inside her soft, white covers and sleep. Her limbs and the tip of her nose are cold and she huddles closer, strangely excited to black out from the world for an hour or two (though it extends to at least 5 hours.)
And while she sleeps, she dreams.
She dreams of things too ordinary for a young girl of eighteen to wish for. Yet pleasurable are those for she has learnt to cherish the ordinary.
She has a favourite one, which weaved everything she ever wanted and narrated before her an although achievable yet unachievable fantasy. There is a house made of wood and painted white and blue and yellow. Grass is lush, flowers are bright and there is lots of sunlight. There is a couple. She is almost certain it's her and a man who is vague but she is sure he is pretty and imperfect but perfect (just like her). There is a dog with soft golden fur and it leaps to catch a bright, red ball. And two children, wearing petite clothes and cute shoes, giggle and jump along with the dog.
Family togetherness, playful remarks and glares, whispers and laughter.
Not to forget the white picket fence.
When Elena wakes up there is a smile plastered on her face. A smile full of hope and warmth. A sudden, strong yearning for the pleasures of the fleshpot, the laughter and merriment of convivial gatherings grips her.
When Kol watches her from a distance there is a smile plastered on his face. A smile full of hope and venom.
He knows what she wants.
Family. White picket fence. Happy ending.
He loves what he wants.
Revenge.
He is going to offer her a taste of bliss (kindly) and snatch it away when she becomes addicted to it (cruelly).
He warns himself though. Because a very, very small voice, not even a voice but a feeling, whispers that maybe he wants it too. So, he warns himself to not fall for her tempting fantasy as he proceeds to turn it into a fake reality.
A/N: If you're wondering how he's able to know what she's dreaming about, so he's the one manipulating her dreams. Please review, follow and favourite so I can sleep with satisfaction.
