Gustave:
It has been five long years since my mother died. I was raised by my father, the phantom. I don't really call him father. To me he is mysterious, unknown, and a phantom. So that is what I call him. I'm fourteen now and the phantom still runs and owns Phantasma. We meet all sorts of freaks and outcasts, but I like it. I feel…like I belong. Today we had some new performers join the show. It was a family. They are acrobats and singers. They are very flexible and walk on their hands a lot. It was Mr. and Mrs. Liche. They have a daughter named Diana and she is thirteen. She is very beautiful. She has long red hair that is curled at the ends. She likes the color red and wears it a lot too. She also wears a ruby pendant that hugs her neck. She told me that her grandmother gave it to her before she died. Anyway, I wish that the phantom would let me perform at Phantasma. I really love singing but he won't allow me to sing. It's quite irritating really, but I still love the phantom. He is my father.
Phantom:
Sometimes I look at Gustave and it still surprises me that he is my son. And to think I have had him under my black wing for five years. He loves Phantasma and has fun with the other performers. We received some new performers today, Mr. and Mrs. Liche with their daughter Diana. Gustave took quite a taste in Diana. He offered to show her around almost immediately. I hope his interest does not go anywhere. Nonetheless, I have decided to forbid Gustave from singing. I think he might be a little mad by this. It is just that, he reminds me so much of his mother. Oh Christine. It brings back so many terrible and amazing memories. I try not to talk about her but Gustave brings it up frequently, but I still love him. He is my son.
