An Encounter
Chapter One: Shikamaru's Pov
I sat waiting for my coffee, when I saw a flash or golden blond hair. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was my ex, Naruto. My heart caught in my throat. I never liked the way things ended between us, and now that I have someone else, I run into him... this is so troublesome.
I could only stair at him, and didn't even notice that I had caught his attention. He's never looked better. I mean, I use to think orange was the ugliest color there was, but the way he wore it, it just worked. He started walking towards me, and I lost my voice.
"Hey Shika, long time no see." He said in a cheerful voice.
"Hey yourself. What's going on? How have you been?" I asked in a shaky voice, not looking him in the eye.
"Oh, it's been alright, I herd from Ino that you've got another boyfriend. Shino, was it?" Naruto asked, smiling at me.
"Oh, yeah. We met a few weeks ago, at school. We've got a few of the same classes." I smiled, to make him think nothing was wrong, even though I'd pick him over any guy I'm with.
I felt tears well up in my eyes, so I looked down so he wouldn't have to see them.
"I miss you, you know..." I said, looking at my feet. Why can't I say what I want to say? I love you...
I herd my order number being read over the speakers, and looked down at my recept.
"That you?" Naruto asked, looking as well.
"Y-yeah..." Was all I could say. I didn't want to leave, but I knew I couldn't stay here all day.
I quickly gave him a hug, never wanting to let him go. I smiled when I felt him hug me back. He was the one to break the hug.
"I'll see you around then, okay Shika?" Naruto asked, smiling at me.
"Yeah... See you around." I said as he walked off.
Tears started to fall again, and lasted all night. Three words kept repeating themselves in my mind...
I've lost him...
