Screenplay
SCENE 1
FADE IN:
INT- PHILADELPHIA, ROCKY's home.
We see Rocky sitting on a chair in his room, he is watching a video of one of his old fights.
(Some one knocks on the door)
Rocky:
Come in.
(The person enters...It's Rocky Jr. his son.)
Rocky:
Hey! Have a seat.
Rocky Jr.
Hi, pap.
(He walks over to the chair in front of his father)
Rocky:
So...How you doing these days?
Rocky Jr. :
Good...Good...
I need to talk to you 'bout something important.
(Rocky reaches for the remote control, that is located on a small table next to him, and shuts the tv off.)
Rocky:
What is it, son?
Rocky Jr. Pauses for a couple of seconds.
Rocky Jr. :
Dad, I...
Rocky:
What...
(He reaches over to Rocky Jr.)
Rocky:
Tell me...never be afraid, especially of your own dad.
Rocky Jr. :
Well...
(He stops talking and looks around the room)
Rocky Jr. :
I'll tell you later.
(He gets up and makes his way outside the room, Rocky reaches for his arm and pushes him back into the room)
Rocky:
Your not leaving until you tell me.
(Rocky Jr. walked back to the chair.)
Rocky Jr. :
K, pap...I'll tell you.
Rocky:
Good..now go on.
Rocky Jr. :
Well...I want to be a fighter dad.
(Rocky looks at his son in disbelief)
Rocky:
Fighter? You mean boxing?
Rocky Jr.
(Hesitating):
Yes..I do, I want to be a boxer, just like yo-
Rocky:
Forget about it.
Rocky Jr. :
Dad, why? You did it, many people did it, why not me?
Rocky:
Don't...don't ever talk to me about that again.
(Rocky Jr. looks at his dad in sadness and unhappiness)
Rocky Jr. :
Fine...I'll do it anyway.
(Rocky stares at Rocky Jr. in disgust)
Rocky
(angrily):
ANYWAY!...Do it ANYWAY! I'M YOUR DAD, YOU DO WHAT I TELL YOU!!
Rocky Jr. :
But why, I want to...I have already started pract-
(Rocky Jr. bit his lip, knowing he should not have said that)
Rocky
(Calming down):
You've started practicing eh?
(Rocky Jr. nodded)
Rocky:
For how long?
(He pointed out two fingers)
Rocky:
Two? Two weeks or months...or years?
Rocky Jr. :
Two days.
(Rocky grinned)
Rocky:
What made you interested in boxing.
Rocky Jr. :
I saw some of your video's last week, and saw some cool fights on television.
Rocky:
My videos?
(He grins again)
Rocky:
I kicked serious butt.
Rocky Jr.
(Laughing):
Yes, I saw.
I want to be you like you.
Rocky:
Then be like me.
(Rocky Jr. looked happily at Rocky)
Rocky Jr. :
Thanks pap, I have already got a membership at a gym.
And will soon be a champion just as you where.
Rocky:
Just remember...
(Beat)
Before you become a champion...you have to be a contender.
(End of Scene 1)
