You were so young, And I guess I'm old.

Hatter looked at her, always looking and never going further than a small hug. She just seemed so young while he was so old. Everything about her screamed youth, from her clothing to her need to find her dad… and Jack. Everything about him yelled old, from his hat to his jacket. Everything but his fighting spirit.

Open your eyes, Ill keep mine closed.

Hatter just needed to close his mind and protect her from danger. Alice just needed to open her eyes to Hatter and see him in her life instead of Jack.

I prefer standing, And you take your seat.

Both of them preferred to stand and fight but now, they just needed to take a seat and really see each other. Get into each other's minds. If they were going to get past this.

Ill be wide awake, And you'll fall asleep.

Hatter lied awake and she fell fast asleep. 'Could they really ever be together?' was all that crossed both of their minds, in consciousness and in sleep.

And you'll fall down a hole. That's the one place we both know

In all of this, Hatter and Alice were getting close. Since she fell into Wonderland and found this place that they both knew, things were beginning to click. Even in the belly of the beast, the Queen of Hearts and her casino.

You take me with you if you could, but I wouldn't go I guess sometimes we both loose our minds, to find a better road.

Hatter always tried to stay with Alice but she wouldn't always let him come nor would he try and make her go with him. They both would go and find a better road, only to be led back to the other. They needed each other.

I can be pensive, You can be so sure.

They both thought. And thought. And gathered their thoughts until this moment. They were so sure now. Love was theirs for the taking and they would steal it if they needed to.

You'll be the poison, You'll be the cure.

Hatter had poisoned Alice's mind and heart with his wit and charm and looks. Alice had poisoned Hatter's mind and heart with her grace and style and independence. They had intoxicated the other and we're the cure to each other's grief.

I'm alone on the journey, I'm alive none the less, And when you do your very worst, Mmmmm it feels the best.

They may have felt alone at first but they are together and were always together. They are alive because of the other. No matter if what the other did was worse, it ended for the best. Alice ran off and broke his heart. Hatter got shot and shattered hers.

Things got better though.
