The world was a blur as Sonic the hedgehog rushed through the maze-like alleyways of Old Soleanna. In his arms Princess Elise shook like a dead leaf in the wind. Sonic thought it was weird that she'd be cold on a hot summer night. Being the daredevil that he was, it didn't occur to him that nearly being kidnapped along with the present threat of crashing into a building at super sonic speeds left most people shaking with fear.

Suddenly, one of Dr. Eggman's robotic creations landed a few yards in front of him. The Old Man still hadn't given up yet.

"Hang on, Princess!" The hedgehog yelled as he picked up speed. The girl, who had up to that moment been holding on to Sonic with all her strength, gripped him until she thought her arms would snap. She also squeezed he eyes shut, having no desire to watch when she and her rescuer were pumped full of lead.

The white-armored robot let loose with several rounds of bullets, all of which Sonic dodged easily and almost playfully. He ran past the machine, and quickly lost it in the labyrinth of roads and alleyways.

He then remembered his passenger and looked down to make sure she was alright. The Princess had loosed her grip a bit, but had figured that it would be better if she kept her eyes closed for the rest of the journey. As Sonic looked, he noticed that the Princess's short auburn hair reminded him of someone he had been very close to. She had been a Princess as well, ironically.

"Hey, Princess!" He yelled over the wind.

"Hmm?" She murmured, not wanting to open her mouth.

" You're not part ground squirrel by any chance, are ya?"
She shook her head slightly.

Sonic shrugged, "Just thought I'd ask."
