Well...as it's almost new year's I figured this'll be my contribution. I hope everyone hangs onto their sanity with this one.

A Marauders' New Year

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

1977

Ten-thirty PM

It was quiet, too quiet. The Marauders had been out and about all day (personally, Professor McGonagall was glad while James Potter was a good Chaser, on the ground however, he couldn't throw straight to save his life) and engaged in a snowball fight with Lily Evans (she and the other professors had a betting pool going on when Potter would propose), Frank Longbottom, and Alice McKinnon ( everyone knew Frank had asked Alice while at King's Cross in September) and her sister, Marlene.

But now, in the last, quiet minutes of the old year, Professor McGonagall was wondering what was keeping her up this time. But, as she reminded herself for the past six, almost seven years, with the Marauders in school, something was going to happen.

11:34 PM

Gryffindor Common Room

James Potter, Sirius Black, and Frank Longbottom were staring at each other, each had a determined expression on his face. The others (who were playing Exploding Snap on the opposite side of the room) thought they were playing poker with a deck of Muggle playing cards Lily had gifted James for Christmas…I'm sorry, Festivis.

"Got any sevens?" Frank asked James.

The marauder grinned. "Go fish."

And the respect the others held for their comrades went down a tad. Of course, you could count on James and Sirius to play childish games.

The portrait opened and Professor McGonagall entered the common room in time to hear Sirius's triumphant shout of "YES!" as he took James's aces.

She didn't say anything. She just gave them an usual "Why-do-you-torment-me-so?" stare and left.

11:59PM

Astronomy Tower, Hogwarts

The now imbeted group counted down.

"TEN!"

A bucket appeared, visible to passersby who looked up.

"NINE!"

Sirius pulled out a bottle of something suspicious and shook it well.

"FIVE!"Frank loaded up his plastic water gun.

"TWO!"

Sirius placed his hands on the cork.

"ONE!"

And as the new year of 1978 entered, so did a big bang from the Astronomy Tower.

Professor McGonagall simply turned away at the sounds of drunken shouting.

Six short months and they would be her problem no more. If this is what they could do in school, was there any hope for Voldemort being taken down this way?

She decided that she didn't want to see the look on Tom Riddle's face when those four somehow made their way onto his hit list.

I'll MAYBE do an Easter one-shot and Graduation one-shot, but ONLY if I get reviews.

Yes, I'm greedy in that way. I'm currently a Beta right now, so my own projects are on hold. I'll give out more information on what I'm helping with as it progresses.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
