A really short one for my Harry Potter debut. If you read it I would love if you let me know in a review or pm.

"I don't think I can do a bonding ceremony with you", said Draco with panic in his voice. Hermione pinched the space between her eyes and sighed.

"Okay, and why is that?" she asked.

"I can't.. what if I.." he stuttered.

"What if you what?" she asked and looked him in the eyes.

"I.. before… I never thought I'd stop hating you and that changed...what if it changes back again?" he said, now with more desperation in his voice.

"And why would that change Draco?" she asked him and he couldn't look at her any longer.

"You can't promise you'll love someone forever.." he whispered.

"No you can't" she said to his surprise. "But that's not what I expect either, there has never been any need for a ceremony with me, you know that" she said and he started to feel chills down his spine.

"Don't you think you will love me forever?" he dared ask.

"I hope to, but I don't know for sure" she said and he felt like crying. "I never wanted any big ceremonies and promises of undying love, all I wanted was the bond. All I want is you" she said and he smiled sheepishly for a second.

"All you want is me?"

"Yes, and I bloody don't want to sit down with your lawyers for a week stating every ridiculous detail of our relationship when a bond says it all. And takes five minutes to complete"

"Sorry" he said and she waited him out. "So you won't promise to love me forever then?" he asked and was a bit ashamed over his own disappointment.

"What do you want me to say?" she bit back.

"What if you fall out of love with me?" he asked and realised his mistake when her nostrils widened.

"You can't promise someone you will love them forever, that is not what bonding means!" she sputtered. "It's like promising someone they'll have good weather, it's impossible! No matter how much you love someone you can't promise them they'll have great weather for the rest of their lives" she continued and took a deep breath. "But you can promise someone that you will do your best with the weather that comes, no matter if it is sunshine or rain. And even if a storm sweeps in and crashes the whole relationship a bonding ceremony can't change that. But you can promise each other that if there is anything left after the storm has passed you will try and rebuild it again. And if there is nothing left then the best you can do is to move on, build something new, in a new place and maybe with someone else" she said and took his hand. "As long as you do your best no one will think you have failed, okay?"

"Okay" he whispered.

"Can you promise me you will try your best to love me through life?" she asked and squeezed his hand. He squeezed it back.

"Yes" he said and gave her a shy smile.

"Great, and I will promise to not try and kill you" she muttered before she continued. "Now can we get on with this bloody ceremony you insisted on?" she sighed but a smile played at the corner of her mouth.

"Ehm yes" he said and his face flushed. He cast a glance at the crowd and saw that most guests sat with their jaws dropped in shock. An amused Potter sat grinning at him in the first row. He forced his eyes back to Hermione.

"We can handle another storm, trust me" she said and started casting. He tightened his grip around his wand and followed. He would follow her through the end of the world if she asked him to.
