Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Palace of Doom
The battle for control of the hanger had been short, but intense. Thankfully the Naboo pilots were safely on their way to take out the Federation control ship. The Gungans were admirable warriors, but the Droid army could still decimate their numbers if it were not taken out soon.
Encouraged by their victory in the hanger, the Naboo freedom fighters started forth towards the doors that led to the power station. Located deep within the station was a secret passageway that emptied out mere feet from the throne room. The latest intelligence placed Nute Gunray there and it was the hope of the queen that by capturing the viceroy the blockade would be finished.
When the doors began to open, there was a brief pause. The appearance of the man that had been waiting there halted the Naboo altogether. Padmé recognized him immediately; he was the warrior who had attacked Qui-Gon on Tatooine. The dark man pushed his sable hood back, revealing his intricate facial tattooing and horns. A Zabrak her mind absently provided. What terrified her most, however, were his eyes, a hideous swirl of reds and yellows that seemed to radiate hate; a shiver raced down her spine.
"We'll handle this," came the confident voice of Qui-Gon Jinn. The small group of Naboo parted to allow the Master and his Padawan to pass. Padmé shifted her grip on her blaster as they stopped in front of her. The Jedi were formidable warriors, but if the chance to take a shot came, she would not hesitate.
All three warriors shucked their robes; the swish of the fabric falling to the ground was the only sound to be heard in the hanger. A smirk spread across the Zabrak's lips as he drew forth his lightsaber. One end ignited, then another, the red beams casting an eerie glow across his face. Master Jinn's saber had found its way into his hand, unlit, but ready for action. A small frown wrinkled Padmé's brow for Padawan Kenobi just stood there, empty hands held loosely at his sides.
The smirk transformed itself into a grin as the Zabrak began to swing his blade in an intricate pattern. It was intimidating to say the least for the blade spun through its loops and twirls so quickly that all Padmé could see was a blur of red light.
The Zabrak let out a short bark of laughter as he finished his show, clearly challenging the Jedi to do better.
Master Jinn ignited his emerald blade. Though only able to see his face in profile, Padmé could tell that he was prepared to defend her at all costs. Glancing at Kenobi she was puzzled by the mix of resignation and exasperation on his face. She would think on that later. Padmé went to heft her blaster to aid her protectors in her defense when she noticed it was no longer in her hands.
It was in Padawan Kenobi's grasp, aimed at the Zabrak.
A single shot was fired.
The Zabrak fell down dead.
Padmé knew that the shocked expression on her face was mirrored upon Master Jinn's.
Kenobi's looked back at them with a guileless expression as he tossed Padmé back her blaster. "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, Master." He picked his robe up off the ground. "Let's go."
