Her and Drake. Back at Coates, pre-FAYZ, one wouldn't see one without the other. Of course, this was Caine's doing. Caine and Drake were roommates, and she was Caine's sister. It had happened quickly. Melissa supposed that Drake told Caine that he thought she was cute, and Caine told Drake to ask her out. All Melissa knew for sure was that Drake walked up to her one day and asked her if she knew how to shoot a gun. The first date was to a shooting range, Drake only got in because of his connections. The second date was when her power manifested. Her telekinesis, shared by her and her twin. The third date happened after Mr. O tried to rape her in the hallway. Drake stopped it and made sure that that never happened again. He sat with her all night while she fell asleep in his arms. After that night, Melissa felt safe. She knew that no harm would come to her, her knight in shining armor was a sadist who had the whole school terrified of him. Although she shouldn't have, Melissa felt safe. She was, in fact, safe for a time. Melissa was safe until Caine told her that he was going to attack Sam, their long-lost brother. When Melissa told Caine she wouldn't help, she knew that him and Drake would pay her a late-night visit to the concrete mold. What hurt her the most was that Drake told Melissa he loved her the night before, when Melissa was beaten half to death by bullies who didn't know who she was. These bullies shattered Melissa's hand so badly that the bones were sticking through the skin, and they also gave her a concussion. Drake found her in the street, and he took care of the bullies. He must've thought she was dying because he carried her to his house, patched her hand up, and told her he loved her.

Looking back now, Melissa can see it was all a game to him and Caine. She was always just a pawn to be played. She realized this when she was in her old room at Coates, looking at the empty space that used to be a window. What they didn't know, however, was that while the concrete was drying, Melissa formed a bubble with her telekinesis around her hands. She could still use her powers, but her broken hand was a bit of an issue. As a result, Melissa made the executive decision to sit and wait for the opportune moment to make her move. The opportunity arrived when Sam Temple did. His girlfriend's brother removed the blocks, and Melissa made the quick decision to join Sam, and leave Drake forever. Melissa decided to be the good guy, to use her gifts for good, not evil.
