"I remember when it was just you and me, the Doctor and his wife traveling through time and space." River's voice rang with sadness
She gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"You don't have to go." The Doctor grabbed her wrist.
"I'm afraid the holagraph isn't stable. I know my place. Besides you have to go."
"I don't want to go."
"I don't want you to. But Trenzalore calls."
"See you around Doctor Song." The Doctor smiled as she started to disintergrate.
"Goodbye sweetie." The Doctor sadly smiled as she became a whisper in the wind. He laughed softly and took off into the space vortex. There were a few friends he had to say farewell to.
The Doctor landed at the Maitland's house and poked his head out of the Tardis. Clara stood in front of the door ready to open it.
"Doctor?" Clara asked
"Ah! Clara! Won't you come inside?"
"My time is running out." he said as Clara handed him a cup of tea
"It's time for history to take place."
"Change the future." Clara suggested. The Doctor shook his head
"I can't." A tear slid down Clara's face.
"Crying. How humany-wumany."
"Before I go there is so much I want to see. Before it flares out of existence forever."
"Care to come along?" The Doctor asked
The next stop was Unified Intelligence Taskforce, or UNIT.
"I don't usually visit old companions."
The Doctor explained as he walked up to the counter.
"The Doctor." he said holding up an actual badge instead of the psychic paper.
"Sir." The woman behind the counter saluted.
"I'm here to see Martha Jones."
"Doctor Jones? Second office on the right, right down that corridor." The woman pointed left.
"Thank you. Come along, Clara."
"Doctor Jones?" The Doctor politely knocked on the open door.
"Yes. Hello. Have you come with the samples?" Martha Jones didn't look away from her work.
"Um, no I think you mistook u for someone else." The Doctor looked visibly nervous. Martha looked up.
"I'm sorry but I think you gave the wrong ro..." She looked at the Doctor
"Your eyes are always the same. Always." She smiled hugging the Doctor
"It's like greeting someone you used to know." Martha said breaking away.
"Why are you here?"
"To say goodbye."
"Where are you going?"
"To my death. But I just wanted to see old friends before I go."
"Well then, goodbye Doctor."
"So long, Doctor Jones." He said walking backwards out the door. Sometimes it was the hardest to go when you haven't said goodbye.
