The Zoom Identity
Disclaimer: This is inspired by a dream I had recently where Zoom and Malcolm Merlyn are concerned.
As Malcolm busied himself with a bit of meditation, he suddenly felt another's presence and reacted instantly by throwing a dagger he had on him. "Now that's not nice." Spoke a voice that he definitely did NOT recognize.
Getting up, he turned around to see who his unwanted visitor was and couldn't help but feel surprised by the sight of a figure in a dark grey outfit with blue arcs of lightning swirling around him. "Something tells me you aren't that Flash character I've heard talked about." He stated warily as this figure just exuded a presence about himself that practically screamed ill intentions.
"And you would be correct as I am his better in ways he has YET to comprehend. For I am Zoom, and I am the ONLY one who has the right to claim the title of 'Fastest Man Alive' in all worlds."
Malcolm's unease with the figure only grew as he spoke and deciding to take a chance, he flung another hidden dagger at the figure. Only to end up on the floor and against a wall with a pained gasp. "You are lucky I am not here to cause you harm, Malcolm Merlyn. Or I would have ended your life right here and now just for that stunt alone."
"Duly noted." Malcolm replied while mentally kicking himself for being foolish enough to make a rookie mistake against an unknown figure like this Zoom character.
Even staring the figure right in his eyes and regretting it as there was a certain presence about them that not even Ra's could boast to have. And it unnerved him greatly much to his disliking before squashing it down and deciding to get down to business. "If you aren't here to kill me, then why are you here? Surely a man with your… Talents doesn't need anybody else to help him with his goals. Whatever those may be." Wondered the former CEO as he stood up and briefly wondering about the worlds bit but choosing to leave it alone for the time being.
His eyes widened moments later however when the figure pulled back his mask to reveal the face of his own son! Making him snarl in rage and attacking before he could really even stop himself. Only to miss and slam into a wall. "Now that's no way to treat your only son, dad." Sneered the look alike of his son.
"My son is buried six feet under so I think I'm well within my rights to attack someone who DARES to use my son's face."
Malcolm felt the familiar stirring of guilt welling up in him where Tommy was concerned before ruthlessly pushing it down. Reminding himself, however falsely it may be, that it was the fault of Oliver and Laurel for his son's death and not him. The figure who dared to use his son's face merely tsked at him. "Tell me, are you familiar with the concept of the Multi-Verse?"
"I am. But I've never put much stock in fanciful things like that."
"Right. Well, dad, I'm here to tell you that its not some fanciful thing as its real and I'm from another Earth." Zoom told him with that familiar Devil May Care smirk on his lips.
A scoff and a look of disbelief was the other man's reply. "And you expect me to believe that just cause you've used a little plastic surgery and acquired a little talent to move around faster then the average man?"
Zoom merely chuckled but it had little warmth to it. "Good thing I expected you to be a hard sell, dad. Or I wouldn't be all that thrilled with how this is going." But he knew he could convince the man and then have him as an ally on this Earth.
"So you've done your homework on me, I'm not impressed and I'm still not convinced about your claim of being from another Earth."
"What if I showed you proof that would make you a firm believer? To the point it would equal a Religious man's belief in the Almighty?" Offered Zoom enticingly.
Malcolm eyed him for a moment and decided that he would humor the bastard who dared use his son's face. As perhaps it would give him an opening to kill him when he least expected it. "Very well, I'll allow you to show me your so called proof." Declared the man and gained a grin in return.
The former CEO suddenly found himself moving at a fast pace and through a blue… Something that suddenly appeared in front of them. Moments later, they came out the other side and into what looked like a destroyed section of a city. "Welcome to Earth-38, dad. Where an Alien is its so called premiere hero." Announced Zoom with a sneer just as a figure in blue came flying into a wall.
But he didn't stay long where he was as he got up and it was clear to see his outfit was in severe need of repair. Another figure then appeared, a red skinned figure with four arms and was larger then the figure in blue. The figure in blue took notice of Malcolm and Zoom and urgently tried to get them to leave before they got hurt before re-focusing his attention on the figure in front of him. "Believe me now?"
"I think… I'm beginning too. Would it be safe to assume that the man in blue who is apparently capable of flight is the alien you spoke of?"
"Indeed. The last of his race, the Kryptonians. Here, he is known as Superman and as far as I've seen in my visits to your Earth, he does not exist there. Which is fortunate as the yellow Sun is what allows him to use his gifts. Gifts he uses to help others rather then rule over them." Zoom replied in disgust.
Malcolm nodded in agreement as such power should be used to take power and rule over others. He could rule over the League of Assassins within the day if he had such power at his disposal. "Come, I shall bring you to my Earth."
And with another showing of Zoom's power, they were gone from that Earth as the battle between Superman and his latest opponent continued onwards. Moments later saw Malcolm and Zoom elsewhere and in what looked to be an abandoned warehouse as Zoom pulled back his mask. "Well, was that enough for you to believe that I'm your son from another Earth, dad?"
Taking a deep breath, Malcolm spoke. "It… Yes. But I will need time to come to grips with the knowledge a version of my own son is alive."
"That… Is agreeable. But perhaps in the mean time you can provide training to my 4 Lieutenants to make them even more effective in combat?" Asked Zoom in return as four others appeared from the shadows.
One of them even making Malcolm's eyebrows raise in surprise as he stared at a black clad Laurel Lance. "Now there's a face I haven't seen in a long time, Tommy. Well, not since the funeral at least." Smirked the black clad woman.
Zoom chuckled. "At least this version is far more capable then the weakling that was my father." Sneered the Speedster with a nasty grin on his face.
The fact Malcolm didn't start to feel greatly uneased or try and quietly leave spoke volumes of the training he had under his belt. "Well, since my son took the time and liberty to convince me of things, I may as well return the favor by beginning your training." Declared the man and gaining a pleased nod from this version of his son while the others looked eager for what they were gonna learn.
Author's Notes: Killer Frost, ReVerb, Deathstorm, and Black Siren getting training from Malcolm Merlyn of all people? Even Zoom getting it? Oh damn! Granted, not something I was gonna go with but that's the direction it took. Hope folks enjoyed!
