Twilight Valkyrie
chapter 2
The Helghast swept through the area faster than Task Force A could arrive. Rei looked at the devastation and tended to the wounded. a dirty bomb had exploded, killing 5 and contaminating the entire area with Radiation. the suits tightened immediately and began the process of decontamination. great swathes of land were hosed and blanketed with a mystery solution which dissolved the radiation.
Rei stepped out and was tackled to the ground by a villager. her eyes were bloodshot and her face was scarred. she was bleeding from the throat.
"Infected, get down!" yelled the team leader, as he put 2 slugs in her brain stem.
"What the hell was that?" asked Rei as she was pulled up.
"infected, roamers that were touched by the fallout." said the Leader.
the sound of cannon fire could be heard. the radio roared to life as the sound of blades could be heard, followed by guttural roars. the captain went white with fear and shut down the radio.
"what?" asked Rei.
the captain would not answer for the longest time, and finally uttered on word, one terrible word that sent shivers down Rei's spine.
"Father" said the captain. Rei didn't move, she simply went inside the tent and cried.
the Helghast had bombed a civilian shelter, where Rei's father was caring for the sick. instead of dying, his life force was transferred to a monstrosity, a byproduct of human bio-engineering, with Blades for hands.
His mind was gone, his voice shattered. all he could do was scream. he bled from the eyes for lack of protection from UV rays. he clutched his stomach and felt worms inside him, for lack of a digestive tract, and vomited great streams of blood, because the Helghast were sick motherfuckers. despite this, he was forced to live, a ruined form of life, clinging desperately to life, to0 terrified to die, too scared to live.
Rei walked back out and boarded the Suit. she found her father, cutting a swathe past many Helghast troops. APC's rained fire but it did no good. the commander was disembowled before Rei's father ran off into the forest.. still alive, the commander tried to radio for help, but expired.
Rei looked on with horror. but the worst was yet to come.
