Hello guys!! Oh my gosh, my first One-Shot, I doubt a lot of people will read this as 99% of PJO fans ABSOLUTELY HATE Rachel Elizabeth Dare. I honestly don't understand why, Rachel was so nice and such a strong character. So what if she sorta got in the way of Percabeth, Rick being evil and all had to create some character to hinder the two getting together. So WARNING: IF YOU HATE RACHEL, THEN PLEASE LEAVE NOW!

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters, settings, and the original plot of Percy Jackson. Uncle Rick owns all.

O-o-O-o-O

It was one of those things that everyone knew, but never admit it. Even she knew it. That didn't mean it would hurt her any less when someone actually told her. From her friend, too.

*Flashback: Morning*

The notorious redhead skipped to her friend's side.

"Hey Alicia!" She greeted in a sing-song.

Alicia rolled her eyes, yet the gesture was unknown to her supposed friend. "Oh... hey Rachel." Her voice behold a shadow of ice and disgust.

It was at that moment Rachel had noticed Kevin there too. "Hey Kevin."

"Hey Rachel." He smiled broadly with a slight stutter in his words. A light blush had made it's way to his cheeks.

Alicia's face had tainted to a dark red, similar to Rachel's hair.

Pulling Kevin with her, she walked faster to gain distance from the Oracle.

The brown haired girl whispered something into Kevin's ear. Rachel noticed the distance separating her from Alicia. Oblivious to her friend's obvious disdain for her, she sped up catching up with the pair.

"What are you guys talking about?"

Alicia fumed, "OH MY GODS! WHEN WILL YOU LEARN!? NOBODY WANTS YOU HERE! NOBODY EVEN LIKES YOU!! SERIOUSLY, GO AWAY!!!" Noticing Kevin's dismayed expression, she quieted down, "Listen, what I'm trying to say is that, you're the oracle. Okay? People only like you because of that. They have no reason to talk to you unless your the oracle. Heck, that's the only reason why they do talk to you!"

Rachel didn't cry. No, she did not. She didn't redden of enbarrassment. Nope. She didn't stutter whilst whispering an "Ok." Most definitely not. She simply stopped walking and watched as Alicia scurried away looking back with hate written all over her face. The Dining Pavilion quickly cleared out and Rachel was left there. She had fallen to her knees now. Her bright green eyes glistened. Her hair blowed all over her face, but did little to brush those droplets away from her cheeks.

She was only useful when people need a prophecy. Nobody truly liked talking to her. For the first time ever, she felt lonely. For the first time ever, she hated herself and who she was. For the first time ever, she felt insecure.

*Flashback End*

Since then she didn't talk to anyone unless it was for a prophecy. Since then she sat in her lonely cabin pondering what people thought of her.

Did they think she was an annoyance?

Probably.

Did they think of her as wasted space? Probably.

Did they think of her as a waste of their time? Probably.

Did they think of her as a gift from the Gods? Ha! Most definitely not.

Everyone's presence seemed to have some sort of connotation.

Percy Jackson. His presence was strong and made people feel happy. He had a positive connotation.

Annabeth Chase. Her intelligent and confident presence had a rather good effect.

Clarissa LaRue. Her being there made everyone feel uneasy. Hers positive? Not so much.

Rachel? In her opinion, she had no connotation. She was just... neutral. And honestly, that hurt even more than being of negative. It was proof to her that she had gone unnoticed. It was proof of her uselessness.

Everyday she would tell herself: "Worthless. That's what you are." It killed her more and more, day by day.

Life. Destiny. Gift. Personality. Feelings.

They were all such cruel things. Life, it's how she's going and experiencing all these brutal realities. Destiny, she had no destiny. Gift, everyone has some sort of gift, everyone except her. Personality, it's what makes her to be such a dislikable person. Feelings, it's what makes everything so magnified and hurtful.

Then one day, Alicia entered her cave. The girl's voiced held no regret, no guilt, no sympathy. She asked for a prophecy. Rachel gave it to her. It was all she was useful for, spilling out those rhythmic words of misfortune.

To no one's surprise, Percy came too. He, too, asked for a prophecy. And she gave him exactly that. It's not like she had a choice anyways, the spirit of Delphi inhabiting her body would take over in those times. After it was prophesized, she would have a choice. She didn't take it. She simply let Percy get what he wanted, the prophecy, and go. Her use in this world, was to be used.

She was wrong though. Rachel Elizabeth Dare, reciter of prophecies that always turn up correct, was wrong. Incorrect. Inaccurate. Faulty. She might not have noticed it, but her presence was loved. She was cared by many. She said she didn't stick out. She said she didn't do anything. That was definitely not true. Everyone had their moments, everyone had an important role in this world, and everyone is loved by at least a few people.

I mean, who would've thrown that hairbrush at the newly risen body of Kronos? Who would've brought Percabeth together? Who would've became Oracle? Who would've brought peace among the Greek and Roman camps?

She may not think she's important. She may think she could be thrown away and nobody would care. Honestly, though? It was hard not to notice a crazy redhead who knew what she wanted and didn't care what it took to get it. She believed in her opinions and likes. She believed in herself and didn't care about what people thought of her. She was an independent and powerful individual. It was difficult to find someone so courageous, so unique, so beautiful, so intelligent, so kind, and so strong nowadays.

She really was something else. Even if she wasn't a main priority. She certainly was key. She was Rachel Elizabeth Dare. She would shine in those hopeless moments. Nothing could stop her. She didn't what others would never do out of shame. If she believed in something, she was unstoppable. She was Miss. Wild Card.

Alriiight!! I hoped you enjoyed reading that as I certainly enjoyed writing that. Thanks for reading!
