The Harp

Despise. Ire. Black rage. Hurt. Feelings that Alois Trancy felt towards the opposite sex. He hated them all. His utterly mad, insane mother, his ill, pathetic sister even.

Though, this one was unique. He met her once upon a dream, she playing a haunting melody with her silk vocals and a soothing harp, ravishingly gorgeous. The boy fell in love instantly and desperately.

Maybe… he could trust her. Just maybe… she was different! Yes! Yes! This divine being was wondrous and pure. So he decided to go by any means to find and see her, to know that she was real, not a delusion like the ones his mother would have.

And that's why he ran away from home and was deep into those sinister woods that every person in his little village was warned to stay away from, for demons and mythical creatures all dwelled there. Of course that was pseudo, Alois had always thought. When he landed his brilliant azure hues towards the place, he was drawn to it. 'She must be there,' a honeyed voice whispered in his mind, and he listened to it as he stepped in.

Alois felt a nasty, gnawing pain in his stomach, a searing fire in throat, his mind dazed with every ache upon himself, and drunken with the thought of finding this goddess. It was already a day in these torturing woods. He seethed angrily at everything that wasn't what he searched for in a frenzied act.

'Over there, behind those heavy moss curtains.' The melancholy murmur breathed softly, and the boy broke into a delighted, mad grin. He reveled at the fact that it had returned and he darted over to the viridian drapes, seizing them apart erratically.
Alois felt slivers of glee tickling every nerve in his body, while gazing upon this wonderland. Warm air slowly swished around him, musing up his golden locks. Luminous trees stood erect, branches spread out, as if to touch all around it, small animals dashing around, and a gentle sound of trickling water from the river. Alois's breath was stolen, and abruptly music reached his ears. He had his first clear, sane thought in days.

'So it's true' he thought,' it's really true.' He was lured in, listening to the pleasant thrum of the harp and the sweet tone of the object of his desire. There were no words to describe this beautiful woman. The stunning lady's mouth curled up, as she set her sight upon him.

"I knew you would come." were the words that spilled put from her full, crimson lips and she motioned the entranced male forward, who obeyed blindly. She laid his head on her soft thighs and smiled again. "I'm different than those other revolting females, Alois. I can take care of your precious soul."

Alois glanced up at her large eyes, blinking his deep blue pools trustily. "What's your name?" The boy asked curiously.

"Me? I'm…Siren." She replied softly. Panic rippled through Alois as he recalled what sirens did. Tempting, tricking, luring in males to eat them. He sucked in a shocked breath as he watched her mesmerizing, hypnotic eyes dilate and her jaws snap open, mouth framed with glistening, sharp teeth.

Ridiculous, Alois knew, but he wanted to laugh at his own stupidity, at the irony. 'Another woman I can't trust. Another woman I can hate.' Were his last thoughts before darkness claimed him.
