This is my first ever fanfic! It's a big step for me, which is why it's not very long.

The Wrong Cinders:

Princess Ginevra is in need of a husband, so what do you do? Hold a ball of course!

Disclaimer : No I don't own any characters, or the concept of cinderella and this sort of twist has probably been used before, but hey.

Ginny had been extremely bored almost the entire way through the ball, even through the entire object of it had been to find her a husband. She had a sweetheart, but unfortunately, said sweetheart belonged too the Malfoy family, who the Weasleys had been feuding with for as long as anyone could remember. This had made his appearance at the ball quite impossible, for masked as he would have been, he had very recognisable features, particularly his almost white-blonde hair.

The only thing of interest she could remember was the mystery of the dark-haired youth who had arrived about halfway through the event, but disappeared back from whence he came before even midnight. Leaving in such a rush, one of his cuff links had come loose and had fallen. Ginny had picked it up to examine it further. As she gazed into the emerald green centre, she had thought of a way of turning this in her favour.

-

The next morning Ginny mentioned this cuff link to her parents, and expressed an interest in finding the dark-haired boy as a possible suitor. They, glad that she had finally expressed an interest in somebody, sent out decrees that whoever had the exact matching cuff link would be married to Ginny.

However, unbeknownst to her parents, she pocketed the original cuff link, leaving in it's place on the velvet cushion, a similar one of Draco's that she had procured from him earlier that day.

-

After finding no matches in their own Kingdom, the King and Queen were forced to look beyond their own lands in hope of finding a husband for their daughter, and Draco, knowing of this scheme set in place by Ginny, knew that he must produce the famed missing cuff link. He did so, causing uproar in both familys, however they calmed down a bit when they realised that they had agreed that she could marry the man with the matching cuff link, and that this was what the youngsters truly wanted.

The wedding of Prince Draco and Princess Ginevra was the biggest and most talked about occasion for years, until the birth of their first child, a daughter named Lyra, but that's another story.

-

The mother closed the book, her daughter had fallen asleep at some point through it, but it was always worth keeping on reading in case she wasn't quite asleep yet.

"Lyra, honey, are you there?"

She kissed her daughter on the cheek and quietly slipped out of the room and into the hall to meet her husband.
