Sam had beautiful hair.
It came down to the edge of his shoulders, a soft chestnut brown color and shone like a diamond in the sun. Sam would spend hours washing it and keeping it to perfection, much to Gabriel's delight. Gabriel loves Sam's hair and makes a habit of stroking it absentmindedly when they're watching TV, braiding it when they've had a little too much wine, or running his fingers through it when they were making love.
It's no surprise to anyone that Gabriel loves Sam's hair, and even Sam himself doesn't mind Gabe's strange obsession with it. (Even Dean, Sam's brother, has made the comment or two about Gabriel only dating Sam for his luscious locks - when this statement was said at last year's Christmas party, not even Castiel, Gabriel's brother and Dean's lover, could defend his brother.) Sam personally loved it when Gabriel played with his hair, mostly because Gabriel was magical with his fingers.
But Sam had enough.
It wasn't because of Gabriel, far from it. No, it was because having hair as long as Sam's was a god damn pain. It took him an hour to shower, it constantly gave him headaches, and he always had to have a hair tie on him at all times to pull his hair back into either a pony tail or a bun to keep food from getting in his luscious locks. Sam loved Gabriel, and he loved that his boyfriend loved his hair, but enough was enough.
"Sam, I'm home!"
Gabriel called out as he entered their shared living space, taking his shoes off as he came through the door. It had been a long day at work and all Gabriel wanted to do was relax with his lover's beautiful hair. Gabriel turned around to see Sam standing there, beaming proudly and-
Oh my god.
"What do you think!?"
Sam exclaimed, reaching a hand to touch his new hair cut. "Where's your hair!?" Gabriel cried, running forward and standing on his tippy toes to reach his gigantic boyfriend's new crew cut. Sam grinned down at his adorably short boyfriend and bent over slightly to help the shorter man out.
"Do you like it?"
He asked nervously. Gabriel sighed deeply and ran his fingers over the shorter hair, enjoying the way the buzzed hair felt on his skin but not wanting to admit it. He leaned forward and pressed a small kiss on Sam's head, making the younger man look up at him.
"I love it if you love it."
He said devastatingly, making Sam grin and pull him closer before giving him a large kiss.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
But as Sam pulled Gabriel in for a hug, Gabriel knew he was going to miss that beautiful hair.
