Dangerous
In this place, a world away from home, it's the faces that I recognise that come closest to killing me.
Sheng Nan stares at the mask of the assassin. The guards that were just slaughtered stain the ground crimson. The mask and cloak which shield the person hide all traces of emotion. Sheng Nan doubts that there are any emotions in the assassin at all.
The assassin spares no time in attacking. The sword slices through the air at an astounding speed. However, no pain befalls Sheng Nan. She can only stare on in horror. From the edge of her vision is the blurry figure of Qing Feng.
When she finally regains enough composure to look at him she finds that he wears a small smile. His eyes remain sad and desolate but the smile is genuine and pure.
"I know… that you… are not her…" Qing Feng whispers feebly.
Sheng Nan catches him as his legs give way. He slumps into her arms without the strength to move. Her eyes widen with terror and her jaw falls.
Startled, she cries out. "Qing Feng!"
She shakes as warm liquid slips between her fingers. She tears her left hand away from his back. Her fingers are dyed with blood.
Her vision blurs for a moment. Small traces of liquids glide down her forehead. There are no doubts in her mind of what they are.
The assassin hisses in quiet confusion. "Why are there people willing to die for you? Are you at all worthy of their lives?"
The pain which slices through her mercilessly turns to fire burning through her body. For Jun Hao's exact image to be in such pain is utterly unbearable for her. The ghastly and sickening wounds have brought her heart to the brink of stopping.
Her lungs constricting, she feels a wave of fury weave through her veins. The fire of anger burns away her rationality. In its place is only a blind, aching rage and a dangerously fast heartbeat.
She snarls. "You hurt Qing Feng…"
Author's Note: I really adore this and I'm really sorry if the author doesn't want fanfiction.
