Mild Hyuuga-cest if you poke yourself in the eye and squint real hard. More like Hyuuga-fluff. Enjoy..i tried…
I don't own naruto …
The sun rose slowly over the Hyuuga manor. Soft tendrils of light poured slowly through window panes as Neji Hyuuga sprung to his feet. Dawn was approaching ever so swiftly. The New Year was nearly upon them…
In the downstairs of Hyuuga Manor, Hinata Hyuuga watched quietly as her cousin began his strange routine. He had not told her where they were going or why, but she knew. It was all for the birds. Suspicions were confirmed as she saw him stealthily pocket the bag of seed. Her head snapped up as she felt pale eyes, so much like her own, staring at her and waiting for her to dress and meet him at the gate.
Hinata shivered under her pale pink kimono. The New Year brought with it, a new frost. The dew sat frozen on the fresh grassy meadows. Neji walked ahead silently and steadily, his blue yukata swaying gently with the breeze. Hinata has not been on this path in so very long, but she knew Neji visited it frequently. She had made the mistake of once following him years ago…
But the New Year was a sort of peace treaty between them. In the New Year, sins were forgiven, grudges ceased for a moment, and love was fragile, but possible.
An arm wrapped around her shoulders slowly and almost nervously as they slowed to a silent stop. But, Hinata could not help but gasp softly at the sight before her…
There must have been thousands of birds. Blue birds, crows, pigeons, gulls, every bird she knew and many other chirped coarsely in an odd chorus, resting in tree tops above.
Neji eyes wandered slowly over the pack, a trace of both happiness and emptiness shining through his vacant, all-seeing eyes.
"They're ...Beautiful" she whispered softly.
He did not respond, but only nod softly to himself, like he hadn't heard a sound. His eyes watered for a moment before a few soft tears trickled down his pale cheeks. His hands angrily tried to wipe them away, but to no avail. And then, he froze…
Hinata's pale hand was at his cheek, wiping away the pain she had unintentionally caused him. Hinata, who only wished to be a normal kid, who never wanted responsibility forced upon her. Hinata, who simply cared.
Her hands shyly wiped at the liquid pain...Her hand slipped away swiftly as it had came. But, before traveling back to her side, Neji held the tender fingers in his own. He smiled so very softly as he brought the hand to his lips, kissing it softly with a blush before laying it to his, interlocking fingers, he led Hinata off towards hyuuga manor once again…
And, in a million years, neither had imagined such a peaceful moment, but, with the New Year comes many strange anomalies. But, the New Year was a sort of peace treaty between them. In the New Year, sins were forgiven, grudges ceased for a moment, and love was fragile, but possible.
