"Oh, come on!" I protested. "It's not that bad, is it?"
Edward pinched the bridge of his nose, his expression pained.
"I ain't calling her that," Rosalie declared.
"...even worse than her taste in clothes!" Alice mumbled.
"As much as I appreciate the gesture, dear," Esme said, her voice soft and apologetic, "I have to admit, the name is a bit..."
"More than a bit," Jasper said grimly.
Emmett was still snickering uncontrollably. "Ruh-nez-mee," he chortled.
"Perhaps we could use a nickname," Carlisle suggested diplomatically.
"Perhaps," Rosalie said firmly, "we could use a real name, instead of a random combination of syllables."
"Sorry," I said, a little miffed at their reaction. "I thought it was a nice idea."
"Think again," Jasper muttered.
"Maybe we could come up with another name," Edward said, pressing my hand gently. "Together."
"Sure," Alice said. "Make a list of possible choices. Start with the A's, then the B's..."
"...and we'll find one we can both agree on," Edward concluded hopefully.
"Okay," I said, disappointed but willing.
"Maybe we could still salvage part of Bella's intention," Carlisle said sympathetically. "I don't suppose you've chosen a middle name?"
