The clouds are dark in the sky, the soft splat as the drops hit the ground, the wind sweeps through my hair, the bark of the tree pressed up against my back, the strong boughs swing above us, my hands try to grab anything, it leaves me clawing my nails into the trunk, you walk towards me, soaked black t-shirt, jeans and waterlogged beat up vans, behind the veil of black hair covering your face, the amber eyes that make me melt are visible, piercing into mine, like the day we first met, I watch as the beads of water drip slowly down the thick strands, slender fingers find my hands, the droplets found your eyelashes too, our lips dewy from the rain, inches apart, be still my frantic heart, the look in your eyes, you care for me deeply, words have no meaning here, in our world, in this space, they mean nothing, the story changes, you hold me firmly, hold me, the world goes black, lips meet in urgency, passion sets the tree ablaze, time has stopped, no longer one with the tree, hands wind their way into your hair, I feel the streams of water run down my arms, tongues tangle into endless knots, never let the blackness fade, slowly the breeze returns, the drops still sound, and together we stay, burning bright, a power against the storm.
