Finding Out

The iron gate clanked as it fell closed behind her, the sky above her red, pink and purple as night conquered the baby blue firmament. Her low heels made dull sounds as she walked down the small path towards the villa of her childhood friend. With a click the entrance was unlocked as she turned the key in the hole and let herself into the vacant house.
Slowly her feet slipped out of her ankle-length low stilettos. Walking down the hallway towards the library she paused upon noticing the orange light coming from through the slightly ajar door.
Shin'ichi?
Her heart picked up its pace as she walked towards the library, not daring to make a sound as she peered around the door. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
Conan? What...
As a female voice sounded from the hands-free telephone her heart ceased its beating.

"Shin'ichi, why don't you want to visit your poor mother in Los Angeles? Isn't it snowing in Tokyo? That must be awful."
Her son growled aggravated as he took one of the books from the shelf he stood in front of. "Mom, did you forgot how much I hate beaches? Seriously."
"I bet you wouldn't hate them if you brought Ran with you~"
"MOM!" A scarlet blush crept on his tapered features as he threw the book to the ground and glared at the phone. High, pretty laughter sounded from the device as he tried to regain his composure, failing epically.
"Seriously, you are hopeless."
"Says the one hopelessly in love."
"Mom..." He growled once more as his sapphire eyes threw dagger after dagger at the telephone as more giggles sound from the speakers.
As the laughter died down an eery silence filled the room, only broken by the woman at the other end of the line, voice sober. "When will you tell her?"
"Never."
"Shin'ichi..."
"Mom."
A sigh could be heard, then silence again and static cracked liked ocean waves. "Gotta go..."
"Bye."
It clicked, signaling his mother had hung up as Shin'ichi sunk into the huge leather seat he now sat in. "She's really hopeless..."
The door giving off creaky sounds made his head jerk around. Eyes became wide as his heart stopped beating.
Ran walked in, a similar expression on her face. "What...?"

This is just a drabble that came to me, and I don't think I'll continue this...
This is the first time I wrote something for this fandom of mine, and the idea came to me while watching the movies for the nth time XD Personally I think it sucks, but, whatever XD Still, R&R, please, because I consider writing more for Conan in the future XD
