Harry Potter and The Happy Ending (based on book 4)

Chapter 1 – an early morning

Sirius Black arrived at number 4 privet drive at 3:00am. He took Buckbeak round the back and tied him to the fence with the chain that had been cruelly put on when the poor creature was about to be executed.

Sirius went back round the front and approached the door, trying to smarten himself up a bit. He knocked on the door and waited silently for an answer.

"Get the door Potter!" Uncle Vernon bawled half asleep, waking aunt Petunia. Harry got up and yawned loudly. He stumbled a bit, and then trotted down the stairs. He was very shocked to see his godfather standing outside the muggle house in which he dwelled.

"Sirius!" Cried Harry. "What…Here…why..?" he stuttered.

"Quiet!" Sirius said. "Grab your things and let's go!"

Harry sped upstairs without another word and hurriedly packed up his stuff. Breathing heavily, he lugged his overloaded trunk downstairs and out the door to Sirius. "I didn't think you'd have so much stuff!" exclaimed Sirius, "I don't think poor old Buckbeak can support that lot."

"Buckbeak?" Then Harry thought about the situation, of course Buckbeak! How else could Sirius have…

"Potter what are you doing? Who's at the door?" It was the worst thing that could have possibly happened. Uncle Vernon was thumping down the stairs to see what was going on. "Potter…WHO THE HELL IS THIS?!" Uncle Vernon yelled. Harry heard yawns from upstairs indicating that Uncle Vernon had awoken the rest of the household.

Aunt Petunia hurried downstairs to see why her husband was so angry at this hour in the morning. He usually waited until after breakfast, and at the present it was only 3:56am. Dudley then sloped down the stairs looking devastated when there was no breakfast waiting for him.

"Dudders, it's not time for wakies yet, go back to bed sweetheart." Aunt Petunia said to Dudley squeezing his broad shoulders. As Dudley made his way upstairs, Aunt Petunia was about to comfort Uncle Vernon who was shaking uncontrollably, then she looked out the door.

"You!" She hissed. "Lilly was always hanging around with that Potter! And he was always hanging around with you! You're one of…of them!" She looked disgusted at the fact she was even talking to him.

Sirius grinned at her "Hello Tuney, how are you?"

Vernon and Petunia scowled at him.

Meanwhile Harry had got an old rucksack from the cupboard under the stairs, put all his important possessions in it. He had every thing he needed there was a lot of space in that bag; he just had to leave a lot of parchment and a few books behind. He could easily replace them, and it was worth it if he could live with Sirius.

He got out of the cupboard and looked out the door, and saw Sirius wink at him. Uncle Vernon suddenly looked behind him in time to see Harry racing towards him; he slid through his uncle's legs and sped out the door closely followed by Sirius. They both clambered onto Buckbeak's back with Uncle Vernon trying to climb up after. "Come on Beaky, let's lose the fat man!" Sirius shouted. He turned round and grinned at Harry. Harry gripped round Sirius' waist tightly as Buckbeak tried to shake Uncle Vernon off Harry's leg.

Uncle Vernon hit the ground with a large bang and then when he tried to get up, Harry's shoe landed on his face knocking him back down. Aunt Petunia ran out to help him. She glared up at them, shaking her fist as they flew away.
